Ask for paint drop-off at Knott’s Recycling Center. Deschutes County takes household latex and oil paint and stain there, up to ten containers. That’s ten cans, not ten gallons. Call 541-388-1910 for paint hours and about odd can sizes.
Use the Hazardous Waste Facility Friday or Saturday, 9 am–3 pm, except federal holidays. The county sends larger paint amounts, spray cans, thinner and epoxy here. Rural transfer stations don’t offer this. Keep each product in its own closed, non-leaking container.
Businesses book Wednesday or Thursday appointments, pay by material, and send their product list through the county application first. The free household Recycling Center can’t be used to dodge business rules. Business house paint can also be checked for PaintCare.
Knott has two options. The Recycling Center takes up to ten household paint containers free. The Friday–Saturday hazardous waste site takes bigger household loads and painting chemicals.
Bend households take mixed paint-and-chemical loads to Knott. Its current hazardous waste schedule has more days than an older county brochure still online.
The county now lists every Friday and Saturday, 9 am–3 pm. Check holiday closures before driving in from outside Bend.
Contractors and other businesses book Wednesday or Thursday service and pay fees. A household appointment doesn’t cover a business load.
Miller on NE Division takes PaintCare paint in north-central Bend, weekdays to 6 pm. Compare it with Knott’s recycling-area limit; other chemicals go to the hazardous waste site. Call the store first.

List each product and amount before calling. Keep cans closed and upright. Ask staff about leaks; don’t pour or mix unknown products.
Full preparation checklist →The current county hazardous waste page. Then check holiday closures.
Yes, for household hazardous waste. Call ahead about large amounts and business loads.
Check Recycling Center paint hours and ask about very large containers. Call hazardous waste staff before a big household cleanout.
