Clatsop County lists City Lumber, 2142 Commercial Street, 503-325-4511, for paint, stain, lacquer, varnish, sealers and deck finishes. Call for hours and amounts. That saves holding paint for event days, leaving the event for what stores can’t take.
Name the products; don’t just say “paint.” A store’s house paint program doesn’t cover boat paint or solvents. The county event takes flammable solvents and gasoline; ask Environmental Health about anything unusual first. Drop-off is on Williamsport Road beside Recology, not the county office.
2026 dates end October 17; 2027 dates weren’t out as of October 2026. For house paint, also try county-listed Sherwin-Williams, 3527 Highway 101 N, Gearhart, 503-738-6751. For other chemicals or business waste, ask the county; don’t show up at the event site on a garbage day.
For regular paint, call City Lumber on Commercial Street. For mixed chemicals, Clatsop County’s last 2026 event is October 17, 2026, 9 am–2 pm, at 1780 Williamsport Road. Then watch the county calendar for 2027.
Clatsop County takes household hazardous waste only on set Saturdays at Williamsport Road. The last 2026 date is Saturday, October 17, 2026; 2027 dates weren’t out as of October 2026. For regular paint, a store saves the wait.
The county office on Exchange Street is just an office. Drop-off is beside Recology at Williamsport.
The county also lists City Lumber on Commercial Street for paint. For labeled paint or stain only, call to check it’s taking paint.
Try a PaintCare store for everyday cans. After the last 2026 event, call county Environmental Health at 503-325-9302 for 2027 dates or another option.

Keep products in original containers. If you don’t know what something is, say so; don’t guess. Call about leaks or oversized cans.
Full preparation checklist →No. Only on the county’s set Saturdays.
Yes, plus spray cans and solvents.
Don’t assume so. Ask Environmental Health about business options.
Checked October 6, 2026: the county lists 2026 dates of February 21, April 11, August 15 and October 17, and no 2027 dates. Call stores for hours and limits.
