Garbage and recycling hours don't apply to hazardous waste. Cowlitz says paint and chemicals are taken Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Check with Waste Control before planning a later garbage run with chemicals.
Household drop-off doesn't take church or school waste, or business and farm waste. Get separate approval for those cans. A volunteer driving them in a personal car doesn't change where they came from.
Check both limits: 25 gallons or 200 pounds total, and no single container over five gallons or 50 pounds. Count chemicals that aren't paint too. If you're not sure, call. Don't pour products into unmarked containers to make them fit.
Go to Waste Control at 1150 Third Avenue during household hazardous waste hours: Tuesday or Saturday, 9:30–11:30. Call before you drive. The transfer station is open much longer, but chemicals are only taken in this two-hour window.
Longview takes household hazardous waste for just two hours, two days a week. Plan around those hours, not the transfer station's longer ones.
Waste Control takes household chemicals during the Tuesday and Saturday hours. The city says small businesses need an appointment for hazardous waste.
The household limit includes weight. That can matter with heavy coatings or several full buckets. Ask first if you're close to the limit.
A PaintCare store may work for a small load of just paint. For other chemicals, use the county site or a business appointment.

Keep labels on. Put containers in the back of your car, packed so they can't tip.
Full preparation checklist →No. Hazardous waste is only taken Tuesday and Saturday, even if other services are open Sunday.
No. The county doesn't take church or school waste at household drop-off.
The county FAQ page wouldn't load directly. We used an official copy on another site and the county's 2026 instructions. A phone call to confirm hours would help.
