Darien ↗
Darien takes household paint year-round at its Recycling & Refuse Center, but you need a permit to get in. The town’s hazardous-waste day doesn’t take regular house paint, since the transfer station handles it.

Hartford’s MDC household collection at 125 Maxim Road is October 24 in 2026. It takes household paint plus listed cleaning and renovation chemicals. Maxim Road isn’t a year-round paint drop-off; it’s one of several regional dates Hartford residents can use.

New Haven has two options. HazWaste Central takes paint plus other chemicals at registered Saturday sessions, but its season ends in October. For paint only, a PaintCare store may be easier.
Checked October 6, 2026ConnecticutNew London ↗
New London households can use SCRRRA’s traveling regional hazardous-waste collections, which take latex and oil-based paint. After October 4, the next date is in Ledyard. Plan for that day; the school is not a daily drop-off.
Checked October 4, 2026ConnecticutTorrington ↗
Torrington’s fall 2026 household collection is October 24 at the water treatment plant in Harwinton. Register before you gather your cans. The plant is the drop-off; the city office is just a contact.

Paint stores won’t take these. Take them to your local household hazardous waste site. Your city guide lists it.
