SCRRRA asks you to stay in your car and tell the crew which totes or containers to return. Keep paint sealed and apart from things you’re keeping. Staff won’t know which box is yours unless you say.
SCRRRA takes no business waste or business-size amounts, even though it takes latex and oil paint. Ask a PaintCare site about business paint and a waste company about solvents.
New London households can use SCRRRA’s free collection on November 7, 2026, at Ledyard High School, 9–1, for paint and listed chemicals. The school is not a daily drop-off.
New London households can use SCRRRA’s traveling regional hazardous-waste collections, which take latex and oil-based paint. After October 4, the next date is in Ledyard. Plan for that day; the school is not a daily drop-off.

SCRRRA takes paint thinner along with paint, stain and varnish, which helps after refinishing. A paint store may be sooner for paint alone, but that doesn’t mean it takes solvents.
SCRRRA refuses large generators and drums but posts no paint limit. If you have more of an estate or workshop cleanout than a few cans, describe the containers to SCRRRA before driving.
PaintCare has year-round stores and a free approved pickup for 100 gallons or more (by can size). Businesses should use PaintCare’s business rules or a commercial waste service; SCRRRA events take no business waste. A paint pickup won’t take solvents or other chemicals.
Bring proof you live there. Keep original cans upright and secure, stay in the car while the crew unloads, and say which totes you want back. Leave nothing at the school before the event.
