Everything you need to get rid of leftover paint responsibly in Casper.

1883 Station Rd, Casper, WY 82609
The city lists the Regional Solid Waste Facility at 1886 Station Rd. and calls the special waste facility “across from the landfill.” The 1883 Station Rd. address comes from a 2016 city news release reported by K2 Radio and PaintCare’s non-program listing; the city’s current pages give no street number for it. All loads must be tied down or tarped, or the city charges a fee.
Your state doesn’t have a PaintCare program, so stores here don’t take paint for free. These are the public drop-off programs PaintCare’s map lists, closest first. Most only serve their own residents and some charge a fee. Call before you go.

Load them all in one trip. The Special Waste Facility takes paint without splitting it by type, free and without an appointment. Tie down or tarp the load before you drive out Station Road.
From April 1 to September 30, residents can drop off hazardous waste until 5:30 p.m. In the off-season, closing is 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, so a Saturday trip is the easier choice.
The city’s landfill pass FAQ treats owners managing rentals as a commercial business, and its hazardous waste page doesn’t take commercial waste. Call 307-235-8246 before you go. PaintCare’s non-program listing mentions business drop-off on Fridays by appointment; the city hasn’t confirmed it.
Bring them anyway. The city lists controlled reuse of some materials, such as paint, at the Special Waste drop-off. Ask staff whether your cans can go to the reuse area.
Take your paint to the Special Waste Facility, 1883 Station Rd., across from the landfill at 1886 Station Rd., Monday–Saturday 7:30 a.m.–4 p.m.; it’s free for residents and needs no appointment. The city lists paint without splitting latex from oil-based, so you don’t need to dry latex first. Businesses should call 307-235-8246 first, because the city says it can’t take commercial hazardous waste.
Casper, Wyoming (Natrona County) has one place for leftover paint: the city’s Special Waste Facility on Station Road, across from the main entrance of the Casper Regional Solid Waste Facility. Residents can drop off paint and other household hazardous waste there free, with no appointment, six days a week. Wyoming has no PaintCare program, so paint stores don’t take paint back.
Casper’s page says residents can drop off all hazardous waste free with no appointment. That’s simpler than Laramie, where PaintCare’s non-program listing shows weekday drop-offs by appointment only, or Sheridan, which PaintCare’s non-program listing shows taking Wednesday appointments.
The city names paint as one of the most common hazardous waste items and doesn’t split it by type. PaintCare’s non-program listings for Cheyenne and Laramie say latex isn’t taken there and should be dried for the trash; its Casper listing has no such rule. In Casper you can bring both kinds in the original cans.
The drop-off is not inside the main landfill gate. The city calls it the special waste facility “across from the landfill.” A 2016 city news release (reported by K2 Radio) and PaintCare’s non-program listing give the address as 1883 Station Rd. Tie down or tarp your load; the city charges a fee for loads that aren’t secured.
The city’s Recycle & Reuse page lists “controlled reuse” of some household hazardous materials, such as paint and cleaning products, at the Special Waste drop-off. It doesn’t explain how to pick paint up; ask staff when you drop off.
The city’s landfill pass (SWF Pass) FAQ says flipping houses is a business and a property owner managing rentals is a commercial business. That FAQ is about the trash pass, but the hazardous waste page also says it can’t take commercial waste. If the paint came from a flip or a rental turnover, call 307-235-8246 before you go.
Wyoming has no PaintCare program, so stores don’t take back paint. Give usable paint to a neighbor or group, or ask Special Waste staff about the city’s paint reuse. The city’s solid waste division says it serves about 100,000 people, including Casper, Natrona County, Douglas and Rawlins, but its hazardous waste page doesn’t say whether Douglas or Rawlins households can use the drop-off; call 307-235-8246. Wyoming DEQ says never to pour chemicals into storm drains or gutters. Businesses that can’t use the city site need a private hazardous waste company.

Keep paint in the original cans with tight lids, and pack them upright in a box. PaintCare’s non-program listing says empty, dry or leaking cans aren’t taken. Tie down or tarp the load. If you have explosives, ammunition or unstable chemicals, leave them where they are and call the Natrona County Sheriff at 307-235-9282.
Full preparation checklist →To the Special Waste Facility on Station Road, across from the landfill at 1886 Station Rd. It’s open Monday–Saturday, 7:30 a.m.–4 p.m., and free for residents.
The city doesn’t ask you to. Its hazardous waste page lists paint without splitting latex from oil-based, so you can bring both. PaintCare’s non-program listing says the site won’t take empty, dry or leaking cans.
Only from April 1 to September 30. In that season the city adds residential hours, 4–5:30 p.m., and hazardous waste drop-off is open then. The rest of the year, the day ends at 4 p.m.
The city says the Regional Solid Waste Facility is open 7:30 a.m.–1 p.m. on major holidays and closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. It doesn’t list separate holiday hours for hazardous waste, so call 307-235-8246 before a holiday trip.
The city’s page says it can’t take hazardous waste from businesses. PaintCare’s non-program listing (not the city) shows business drop-off on Fridays by appointment. Call 307-235-8246 to ask before you go.
October 16, 2026: read the City of Casper Hazardous Waste, Trash + Recycling, Residential Trash Collection, SWF Pass FAQs, Recycle & Reuse and Recycle Compost FAQ pages, a 2016 city news release reported by K2 Radio, Wyoming DEQ’s nonpoint source page and the PaintCare locator data (Natrona County record listed as a non-program site). Unresolved: the city’s current pages don’t give a street number for the Special Waste Facility (1883 Station Rd. comes from the 2016 news release and PaintCare). The city says “residents” without saying whether that means the city, Natrona County, or the Douglas and Rawlins areas its solid waste division also serves. The city page says no business hazardous waste, but PaintCare’s non-program listing shows Friday business appointments. Holiday hours are published for the whole Regional Solid Waste Facility, not the hazardous waste drop-off. No gallon limit is published, and the city doesn’t explain how its paint reuse works.
