THE LOCAL ANSWERBook a curbside hazardous waste pickup at hhwsolutions.com/waxahachie (or call 972-440-2040), then set up to 10 gallons of labeled paint out by 7 a.m. on your pickup day. The booking page shows the next date; on October 16, 2026 it was Thursday, October 22, 2026. Don't take paint to the Citizens Convenience Station; the city prohibits it there.
Waxahachie, Texas (Ellis County), picks up household paint at your home instead of running a drop-off site. The city works with HHW Solutions: you book online, set your labeled cans out by 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day, and a crew collects them. The city's Citizens Convenience Station on Lions Park Road does not take paint.
Book first or it stays on the curb
HHW Solutions says items set out without a booking won't be collected. PaintCare's listing says to book by 8 p.m. on the Tuesday before the Thursday pickup. The form asks for your name, phone, email, address and the kind of waste, and has a box for how many items.
What a pickup can hold
Up to 10 gallons of paint and paint supplies per pickup. Every container needs its original label and a lid that won't spill. Put cans smaller than a gallon in a box no bigger than 20 x 14 x 14 inches. PaintCare's listing says empty, dried or leaking cans aren't taken.
Lions Park Road is for trash, not paint
The Citizens Convenience Station at 499 Lions Park Road (Tuesday to Saturday, 8 to 4) lists paint and solvents as prohibited. It's still the place for bagged trash, brush and bulky items, with a photo ID and a Waxahachie water, garbage or tax bill.
The Dallas County center costs you $100
The Home Chemical Collection Center at 11234 Plano Rd. in Dallas is free only for residents of its member cities, and Waxahachie isn't one of them. Everyone else pays at least $100, so the city's free curbside pickup is the better deal.
Red Oak and other Ellis County towns have their own programs
TCEQ's list shows a separate home pickup for City of Red Oak residents through Community Waste Disposal, (972) 392-9300 ext. 339. Waxahachie's HHW Solutions pickup is for Waxahachie residents only. TCEQ lists no countywide Ellis County program.
