THE LOCAL ANSWERFor up to 20 gallons, take paint to any Fort Worth drop-off station, like 2400 Brennan Ave., Tuesday–Friday 8–5 or Saturday 8–noon, with a water bill and matching license. For bigger loads, use the Environmental Collection Center at 6400 Bridge St. (30 gallons a visit, Thursday–Saturday).
Fort Worth gives you two choices. Four drop-off stations take household chemicals, including paint, six days a week. The Environmental Collection Center on Bridge Street takes bigger loads and also serves partner cities.
Stations for small loads, the ECC for big ones
Drop-off stations take up to 20 gallons of household chemicals every 3 months. The ECC takes up to 30 gallons of paint per visit. If you're cleaning out a garage, go to the ECC.
Four stations around town
Brennan Avenue on the north side, Southeast on MLK Freeway, Old Hemphill Road on the south side and Hillshire Drive at the North Service Center. All keep the same hours.
The ECC keeps evening hours
The ECC is open Thursday and Friday until 7 p.m. and Saturday 9 to 3. It's closed Sunday through Wednesday.
Free paint on the shelf
The ECC has a Help-Yourself Shelf with like-new paint and cleaners, free. Look there before you buy primer for a small job.
Neighbors may need a voucher
Arlington, Burleson and Haltom City residents just bring ID. Crowley, Grand Prairie, Weatherford and others need a voucher from their city first. Dallas isn't on the list.
