THE LOCAL ANSWERTake paint to 7030 Culebra Road, Tuesday–Friday 8–5 or Saturday 8–noon, with a recent CPS Energy bill and photo ID. You can bring up to five 5-gallon or 25 one-gallon cans per visit. The city had posted no Bitters or Rigsby drop-off days after September 5, 2026, so plan on Culebra.
Texas has no PaintCare program, so stores don't take paint back. In San Antonio, take paint to the city's hazardous waste drop-off at 7030 Culebra Road. It's free if you pay the Environmental Fee on your CPS Energy bill.
Culebra is the only year-round option
The city runs four bulky waste centers, but only Culebra takes hazardous waste every week. Bitters (Wurzbach Parkway), Frio City Road and Rigsby take furniture and junk on normal days, not paint.
Your CPS Energy bill is your pass
Staff check for a recent CPS Energy bill that shows the city's Environmental Fee, plus picture ID. If you rent and the bill isn't in your name, sort that out before the trip.
Count cans, not gallons
The limit is five 5-gallon cans or 25 one-gallon cans of paint and other liquids, and 220 pounds of hazardous waste in total. A garage with 40 quart cans may need two trips.
Check before using the extra drop-off days
The city says Bitters drop-offs run the first Friday and Saturday of each month, but its list stopped at September 5, 2026. Rigsby's 2026 Saturdays were February 14 and August 15, both past. Check the city's event pages before you go; otherwise use Culebra.
Outside the city? Bexar County picks up
Unincorporated Bexar County households can get free home pickup of paint and other chemicals through WM At Your Door (800-449-7587). City of San Antonio residents can't use it.
