For paint only, use a paint store in the PaintCare program. For spray cans and thinners, book a free Eco-Depot spot. Any Rhode Island household can use any date, and the last 2026 date is December 5.
Free paint recycling.
Rhode Island has a free paint recycling program called PaintCare. Many paint and hardware stores take leftover house paint, stain and varnish at no charge.

Newport ↗
Newport's Clean City Program and Waste Management's Halsey Street transfer station don't take paint. The island's one 2026 Eco-Depot is October 17 at Easton's Beach. After that, use PaintCare stores in Middletown.

Providence has no city paint drop-off and no 2026 Eco-Depot stop. Take mixed chemicals to Resource Recovery's traveling Eco-Depot in a nearby town, and small paint-only loads to a PaintCare shop.

Warwick's Range Road recycling yard doesn't take paint on normal days, but it hosts Resource Recovery's Eco-Depot on November 7, 2026. The rest of the time, use one of Warwick's three PaintCare stores, such as Sherwin-Williams on Walnut Street.
