From PaintCare’s drop-off map ↗, updated October 6, 2026. Hours and limits are PaintCare’s. Distances are straight-line, not driving.
The closure lasts months. Sort house paint now from solvent, stripper and spray cans. A PaintCare store may take the paint meanwhile, but not the rest. Ask Marion County where those go.
A Salem address alone doesn’t qualify you; the current page offers free drop-off to Marion County residents. Before driving from West Salem, tell staff which county the waste came from, and ignore older translated pages. A PaintCare store may be easier for house paint.
The limit is ten gallons of paint. Bigger containers, or several of one product, need approval first. Call 503-588-5169 with sizes and contents. Paying to enter the transfer station doesn’t let you drop chemicals without a plan.
Marion County households can drop off paint on Thursdays at 3250 Deer Park Drive SE. The site is set to close November 19, 2026 to February 4, 2027. Paint stores are another option.
Salem’s household hazardous waste site at the Salem–Keizer transfer station is open Thursdays only, and it will close for maintenance this winter.
Marion County plans to close the site November 19, 2026 to February 4, 2027. Go on a Thursday before then, or take house paint to a PaintCare store. Check the county page for the reopening date.
The main page says Marion County residents. Older translated pages differ. Polk County residents should call before driving over.
During the closure, PaintCare stores take labeled house paint. Ask the county where solvents and spray cans should go.

Bring no more than 10 gallons of paint per visit. Get approval first for containers over five gallons or several of one product.
Full preparation checklist →No. Hazardous waste has its own Thursday hours and a winter closure.
No. Small businesses must sign up with the county’s contractor and pay by material and weight.
Checked October 6, 2026: the county page still shows the November 19, 2026–February 4, 2027 closure and 10-gallon limit, and names only Marion County residents. Check reopening before a February trip.
