From PaintCare’s drop-off map ↗, updated October 6, 2026. Hours and limits are PaintCare’s. Distances are straight-line, not driving.
Take it to Miller on Allen Creek Road (20 gallons per visit), or split it between Sherwin-Williams on Rogue River Highway (10) and a five-gallon store. Limits count can size. Call Miller at 541-244-1723 with your can count; open doesn’t mean room.
PaintCare stores take none of these. The county drive-through has taken paint removers and wood preservatives free, up to one cubic yard per resident. The 2026 event was June 6; call Southern Oregon Sanitation at 541-479-5335 for the next, and ask about spray cans and thinner.
No PaintCare drop-off is listed in Cave Junction or Kerby, and the Kerby transfer station is for garbage. Keep cans upright and labeled, and drop them on a Grants Pass trip at a store whose limit fits.
Grants Pass PaintCare stores take Oregon household and business paint, with extra limits on business oil paint. Business chemicals go to the event’s separate business day, which needed an application weeks ahead in 2026. For 100+ gallons of paint, use PaintCare’s large-volume pickup.
Miller Paint at 1620 D Allen Creek Road takes up to 20 gallons per visit for PaintCare; other Grants Pass PaintCare stores take 5 or 10. Josephine County’s household hazardous waste event is for chemicals, not paint, and its 2026 date (June 6) has passed.
Grants Pass has several PaintCare stores, but per-visit limits vary up to fourfold. Josephine County’s yearly chemical event hasn’t taken paint. Pick a store by load size, and save strippers and pesticides for the county event.
PaintCare lists Miller Paint on Allen Creek Road at 20 gallons per visit, Sherwin-Williams on Rogue River Highway at 10, and PPG on NE Beacon Street and QXO on NE 7th Street at 5. A dozen one-gallon cans: one Miller trip, or three to a five-gallon store.
Drake’s Grants Pass store at 1535 NE F Street is open, and its website mentions paint recycling. But it’s not on PaintCare’s October 2026 list; Drake’s North Medford store is. Ask the store first.
Josephine County’s household hazardous waste event is a drive-through at Southern Oregon Sanitation, 1381 Redwood Avenue; staff unload. Past events took no paint and sent people to PaintCare. Use it for strippers, wood preservatives, pesticides and pool chemicals.
PaintCare lists nothing in Cave Junction or Kerby. The city lists the Kerby transfer station on Kerby Mainline Road for trash, not paint. Bring sealed, labeled cans next time you’re in Grants Pass.
The city lists Republic Services (541-479-3371; Merlin Road transfer station and NW Washington Boulevard depot) and Southern Oregon Sanitation (541-479-5335; Redwood Avenue depot and Kerby). Southern Oregon Sanitation hosts the county chemical event.
For 100+ gallons of house paint, ask PaintCare for free large-volume pickup. Smaller loads can be split across other Grants Pass PaintCare stores. Chemicals wait for the county event; ask Southern Oregon Sanitation, 541-479-5335, for the date (none for 2027 as of October 2026).

Sort into two boxes: labeled house paint, stain and varnish for a PaintCare store; strippers, thinners and pesticides for the county event. Count each can at full size against the store limit. Don’t mix products.
Full preparation checklist →No. Several Grants Pass stores take PaintCare paint. Miller on Allen Creek Road takes the most: 20 gallons per visit.
Don’t count on it. Past events refused paint and sent people to PaintCare.
The 2026 household event was June 6 and has passed. The city says events are twice a year, but Southern Oregon Sanitation listed only June for 2026. No 2027 date as of October 2026.
Unclear. It’s not on PaintCare’s current list. Call 541-507-9700 first.
PaintCare lists nothing in the Illinois Valley. Grants Pass is closest.
Checked October 6, 2026. Drake’s old services and contact pages are gone (404); its store page mentions paint recycling generally, but PaintCare’s list (updated October 6, 2026) omits the F Street store, so we dropped it from the main list. Per-visit limits are PaintCare’s. Southern Oregon Sanitation lists June 6 (households) and June 5 (businesses) for 2026 but no items; the no-paint rule and one-cubic-yard limit come from past-event reports. The city says two events a year; we found no second 2026 or any 2027 date.
Checked October 6, 2026 against these sources, not by phone. How we research.
