Take labeled house paint to a PaintCare store on the county's list, up to 5 gallons per visit. Keep spray cans and solvents for the next spring event; no 2027 date has been posted.
County residents outside the city can use the Keys Stadium event with proof of address. For dried latex at the curb, ask your town or hauler; the county doesn't collect trash.
Dried paint can go to Reichs Ford Road at the trash rate, or to the curb if your hauler says OK. Leave the lid off so crews can see it's dry.
Labeled house paint: a county-listed PaintCare store, like Sherwin-Williams, 1305 W 7th Street (5 gallons per visit). Paint plus spray cans and solvents: the residents-only event Saturday, October 10, 2026, 8 a.m.–noon, Keys Stadium, 21 Stadium Drive. It's the last 2026 event. Reichs Ford Road takes only dried paint.
Frederick County has no year-round hazardous waste site. Since April 1, 2026, PaintCare stores take leftover paint free. The county's two yearly events at Keys Stadium now take latex and oil-based paint too.
May 9 has passed. The fall event is Saturday, October 10, 2026, 8 a.m.–noon, Keys Stadium upper lot. Right turns only: enter Stadium Drive from New Design Road. After that, use PaintCare stores until a spring date is posted.
The landfill's permit covers solid waste only. It takes dried latex or oil paint at the trash fee ($10 minimum), but no liquid paint. The county calls it a last resort; try PaintCare first.
The county names Sherwin-Williams on W 7th Street, Buckeystown Pike and Grove Road, McCormick Paints on Pegasus Court, and Brunswick Ace. PaintCare also lists PPG Paints, 5628 Buckeystown Pike, which the county doesn't. Call first; the program is new.
At the event, bring a driver's license with a county address, a utility bill, or other proof the waste came from the county. Out-of-county and business waste is turned away.
PaintCare stores won't take spray cans, but the county event takes spray paint and thinner. Bring them to the event, not a paint store.
Other county-listed PaintCare stores: Sherwin-Williams at 5807 Buckeystown Pike and 7307 Grove Road, McCormick Paints at 5102-D Pegasus Court, and Brunswick Ace Hardware. With 100+ gallons, ask for free pickup. Dried latex can go in the trash only if your hauler OKs it; the county has no curbside trash.

Keep paint in original labeled cans. For October 10, bring proof of county address and enter from New Design Road. To dry latex for trash, use kitty litter, sawdust or mulch; leave lids off so crews see it's solid.
Full preparation checklist →No. The county holds hazardous waste drop-offs as events at Keys Stadium. Reichs Ford Road takes only dried paint, as trash.
Yes. The county's 2026 guide adds latex and oil-based paint as new items.
PaintCare's listing for the spring event said no paint limit. The county flyer doesn't list one.
No. Events take home waste only. Businesses can use PaintCare stores (latex; oil-based only for very small businesses) or large-volume pickup for 100+ gallons.
We checked Frederick County's hazardous waste, event, paint, landfill and trash pages and PaintCare's October 6 map data. PaintCare still shows the past May 9 event. The flyer gives 301-600-2960; PaintCare gives 301-600-1848 (landfill office). We didn't check City of Frederick trash rules or store hours.
