THE LOCAL ANSWERBring paint to the Pompano Beach collection on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Community Park, 1660 NE 10th St., with your driver's license. After that, the 2026 partner events are Fort Lauderdale's Mills Pond Park on Nov. 21 (register first) and Tamarac on Dec. 5. Don't take it to the Broward County center on Powerline Road; the city says it no longer takes Pompano residents' hazardous waste.
Paint in Pompano Beach, Florida, goes to the city's household hazardous waste events, not to a Broward County drop-off center. Pompano Beach shares a 13-event schedule with six other north Broward cities. Pompano residents can drop paint free at any of them, with proof that they live in the city.
The county center on Powerline Road won't take you
Broward County's North drop-off center is in Pompano Beach, at 2780 N. Powerline Road. But the city says hazardous waste from Pompano Beach residents is "no longer accepted" at the county site "located North of Copans Road at Powerline Road." PaintCare's listing names 15 areas that center serves, such as Margate, Lighthouse Point and Oakland Park. Pompano Beach is not one of them.
Your city runs events, not a permanent site
Pompano Beach hosts three of the 13 partner events a year at Community Park, 1660 NE 10th St. In 2026 the April 11 and July 18 events have passed; Oct. 17 is the last one at home this year. Fort Lauderdale lists the spot as the Northside Baseball Complex.
Any partner city's event works
With proof of residency, Pompano residents can use events in Fort Lauderdale, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Lauderdale Lakes and Tamarac. Coconut Creek and Coral Springs have no more 2026 dates. Fort Lauderdale (Nov. 21) and Tamarac (Dec. 5) are left.
Fort Lauderdale wants you to register
Coconut Creek's page says everyone using the Fort Lauderdale event must register first. Fort Lauderdale's June event page said visitors from partner cities were encouraged to register, and sign-up closed at noon the day before. As of Oct. 15, Fort Lauderdale had not posted its Nov. 21 page. Watch its event calendar and register early.
Not with the bulk pile
The city's bulk pickup does not take hazardous waste, and its brochure says not to put hazardous waste in your garbage or with bulk waste. The Saturday drop-off at 1840 NW 33rd St. is for bulk waste, not paint. Hold paint for an event.
