Your state doesn’t have a PaintCare program, so stores here don’t take paint for free. These are the public drop-off programs PaintCare’s map lists, closest first. Most only serve their own residents and some charge a fee. Call before you go.

The landfill is closed Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026 for Veterans Day. That knocks out a whole week of hazardous waste drop-offs, so book another Wednesday.
The city's trash rules say hazardous materials and paint are not collected at the curb. Its pages don't say dried latex can go in the trash, unlike Laramie's. Ask about latex when you book.
The facility serves everyone in Sheridan County, not only city utility customers. Landfill coupons are a city perk, but you don't need one for hazardous waste. Businesses can't use coupons for paint or chemicals.
There's no store take-back in Wyoming, and Sheridan has no posted paint swap. The Landfill Mall on site resells usable items like doors, windows and furniture. The city doesn't list paint among those items, and donations cost $122.60 a ton. For usable paint, offer it to a neighbor or community group instead. Wyoming DEQ says to dispose of paint properly and to check for a local household hazardous waste program. Here, that's the Wednesday landfill appointment.

Sort cans into the city's categories and count them. Keep lids tight and cans upright in a box. Tie down or cover your load. Follow the scale house attendant's directions when you arrive.

October 15, 2026: read the City of Sheridan's Household Hazardous Waste, Landfill, Landfill FAQs, Trash Collection FAQs, Recycling FAQs, Free Landfill Days, Landfill Coupons and Landfill Mall pages; Wyoming DEQ's nonpoint source page; and PaintCare's non-program listing. The city's own pages don't separate latex from oil-based paint and don't say dried latex can be trashed, so we don't tell readers to trash it; ask staff. The 2026 Free Landfill Day (Sept. 26) has passed. Trees for Trash is a one-day event each May; the city gives no 2027 date. The city lists no quantity limit and no business price. We found no separate Sheridan County hazardous waste program and no local paint reuse program.
