HazoHouse counts paint, primer, stain, glue, thinner and solvents together, up to 10 gallons per vehicle per day. That's 12 gallons, so ask staff how they'll count it before you go.
HazoHouse won't take broken or leaking containers from households. PaintCare stores won't either. Call 360-867-2912 before you move it. Don't leave a leaking can at a donation drop.
Habitat only takes resale donations in full cans with original labels, two years old or newer. The West Olympia store also recycles paint. Tell staff which you want. An old, half-used can may fail as a donation but still be recycled.
Thurston County households can take paint and related items to HazoHouse in Lacey for free, up to 10 gallons a day. West Olympia Habitat also takes paint for recycling. Donating paint for resale there has stricter rules.
Olympia households can take latex, oil paint and related chemicals to HazoHouse in Lacey. The number to plan around is its daily limit for paint products.
The 10-gallon limit isn't just wall paint. Stain, sealer and solvents count too. Include them all when you ask staff to OK your load.
South Puget Sound Habitat says its West Olympia store is a PaintCare drop-off. If a store trip is easier, call it for current details.
With only house paint, West Olympia Habitat (400 Cooper Point Road SW) may save you the trip to Lacey. Donations start at noon, after the store opens; call 360-956-3456, option 2, to ask when it takes paint. For a mixed load with thinner or glue, HazoHouse is the surer bet, within its limit.
Businesses need an appointment and pay HazoHouse fees. For a large stockpile, compare that with PaintCare pickup, if you qualify.
