Third Wednesday, noon to 6
Frederick County holds hazardous waste collection at the Landfill Citizens’ Center on the third Wednesday of each month, noon–6 p.m. Stay in your vehicle. Electronics have their own day, the fourth Wednesday, 7–11 a.m.
Latex paint is yours to dry
The county says to take the lid off and let latex dry, add a hardener, or pour it onto newspaper, mulch or kitty litter. Once it is solid, put the dried paint and the can in your regular trash bag.
City cleanup days take paint at the curb
Each city ward gets one Annual Cleanup Day, when crews take paint, tanks, motor oil and more from the curb. Ward 4 is January 4, 2027, and Ward 1 is April 5, 2027. Ward 2’s day was July 20 and Ward 3’s was October 5, 2026. Register by 11:59 p.m. the day before.
Not at the neighborhood sites
Hazardous waste is taken only at the Landfill Citizens’ Center, not at the county’s neighborhood drop-off sites. The county’s neighborhood convenience sites are for Frederick County taxpayers, but city residents can use the regional landfill.
