The Depot season ends October 20, 2026. Store them sealed and upright until it reopens in May. PaintCare stores won't take them.
The Depot is only for the 18 district towns, and PaintCare's listing for the paint area names the same towns. Use a PaintCare store or your own local program.
WSWMD won't take hardened or empty paint cans; they're trash. The town's curbside guide agrees for empty cans.
Take labeled latex or oil-based paint to WSWMD, 327 Old Ferry Road, free, up to 10 cans (Monday–Friday 7 a.m.–3 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.–1 p.m.). Spray paint, thinner and other chemicals: book a Tuesday Depot slot by 4 p.m. the Monday before. Only October 13 and 20 were left as of October 6; then it closes until May.

We checked WSWMD's paint, Depot, appointment and business pages, Brattleboro's 2024 curbside guide, Vermont DEC and PaintCare. Not settled: 10 cans (district) vs. 10 gallons (PaintCare), and PaintCare says empty containers are OK while the district says don't bring them. The district's paint page has no residency rule; PaintCare lists district towns.
