You're in the Alliance, so the Bennington depot is yours, but three PaintCare stores in Manchester Center are closer for paint alone.
BCSWA points Alliance residents to RCSWD's Gleason Road depot in Rutland, where paint is free and other chemicals carry non-district fees. Book there 24 hours ahead.
BCSWA's Paint Share gave away depot paint to registered Alliance residents in July 2025. Colors and amounts weren't guaranteed. Check bcswa.org for a future date.
For house paint, take up to 5 gallons to Sherwin-Williams, 214 Northside Drive, during store hours, free. For thinner, spray cans and other chemicals, book a Monday slot at the BCSWA depot, 904 Houghton Lane ($5 per car), but its season ends in October. Bennington's hazardous waste option is the Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance (BCSWA) depot inside the transfer station on Houghton Lane. It's seasonal and runs on Mondays by appointment, for the Alliance's 13 towns. Outside the season, house paint goes to PaintCare stores like Sherwin-Williams on Northside Drive.
