Everything you need to get rid of leftover paint responsibly in Laredo.

6912 Hwy 359, Laredo, TX 78043
Paint is on the landfill's list of items you can't dump with trash; it goes to the hazardous waste area instead. PaintCare's directions: turn into City of Laredo Solid Waste Services from Hwy 359, keep right where the road forks, and look for the fenced, roofed area with HHW signs. Uncovered loads pay a $10 surcharge.
Your state doesn’t have a PaintCare program, so stores here don’t take paint for free. These are the public drop-off programs PaintCare’s map lists, closest first. Most only serve their own residents and some charge a fee. Call before you go.

Check the paint reuse program at the same site before buying. PaintCare lists reuse hours of weekdays 8 to noon and 1 to 3.
Take paint to the household hazardous waste drop-off at the City of Laredo Landfill, 6912 Hwy 359, and bring your Texas driver's license and a current water bill with the same address. It's for residents' household waste only. Call 956-794-1650 to check hazardous waste hours first, since PaintCare lists shorter hours than the landfill's Monday–Saturday 8–5.
Laredo, Texas (Webb County) takes household paint at the City of Laredo Landfill, 6912 Hwy 359, where the city's Environmental Department runs a hazardous waste drop-off. It's for residents' household waste only. The city says paint can't go in your garbage cart or be dumped with landfill trash.

The landfill lists two proof-of-residency documents: a valid Texas driver's license and a current water bill with the same address as your ID. The city doesn't say if the hazardous waste area checks them, so bring both.
The landfill is open Monday to Saturday, 8 to 5. PaintCare's listing gives shorter hazardous waste hours, with Saturday only noon to 4. Call 956-794-1650 before a Saturday trip.

PaintCare lists the site as a hazardous waste and paint reuse program, with reuse hours on weekdays. Ask staff whether there's usable paint to take home.
Texas has no PaintCare program, so stores won't take paint back. TCEQ suggests giving good paint to friends or neighbors and says a can less than a quarter full can be left open to dry. Laredo's cart rules don't make an exception for dried paint, so the landfill's hazardous waste area is the safest choice. PaintCare's listing says the city's collection events are typically held on the first Saturday in May and December; check with 3-1-1 for the next one.

Make sure every can is sealed, not leaking, and clearly labeled. Bring your Texas driver's license and a current water bill with the same address. Cover your load; the landfill charges $10 for uncovered loads. Weather can close the landfill, so call ahead on rainy days.

Checked October 15, 2026: Laredo Solid Waste's FAQ (the Environmental Department's household hazardous waste drop-off at the landfill takes paints; residential only; no paint in the Willie Bote cart; no hazardous materials in the blue Billie Bote cart), its landfill tips page (6912 Hwy 359, Monday–Saturday 8–5, Texas driver's license and a water bill with the same address as proof of residency, paint prohibited for disposal, call 956-796-1098 for those items, $10 uncovered-load charge), its rates page ($2.00 first ton for residents as of Oct. 1, 2025), TCEQ's Sept. 22, 2026 statewide list (Laredo ongoing drop-off at 6912 Hwy 359, 956-794-1650) and TCEQ's paint guidance, and PaintCare's locator data. The Environmental Department's old site (laredoenvironmental.com) no longer loads, and cityoflaredo.com event pages returned errors. So the hazardous waste hours, paint reuse hours, directions and the May/December event pattern come only from PaintCare's listing (which also flags the site as not a reuse site even though its name includes the paint reuse program). Not found: whether oil-based paint is handled differently, quantity limits, a 2026 collection event date, or rules for Webb County residents outside city limits. No phone calls were made.
