Start with these

Brazos Valley Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event (Twin Oaks Landfill / BVSWMA, with Bryan and College Station)

Texas A&M University Services Building, 3380 University Dr. E., College Station, TX 77845 (TCEQ's listed address; enter from Harvey Rd./Hwy 30)

Accepts
Oil-based paint, latex paint, spray paint, artist paint, stain, varnish, lacquer, wood preservative, caulk, sealer, paint thinner and paint stripper. Also household chemicals, car fluids, batteries, pool and garden chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, cooking oil, computers and TVs.
Who can use it
Brazos Valley residents (the flyer says the event is free for residents of the Brazos Valley). TCEQ's 2026 list names Brazos, Robertson, Leon, Burleson, Madison, Grimes and Washington counties. No business-generated waste.
Hours
Held one Saturday in April and one in October each year. The next event is Saturday, October 24, 2026, 7 a.m.–2 p.m., rain or shine. The spring 2026 event (April 18, per PaintCare's listing) has already passed.
Load limits
No quantity limit is published. No 55-gallon drums. Keep paint in its original, labeled can and don't mix products. Medications, sharps, ammunition, tires, freon appliances and household garbage are turned away.
Fees
Free.

Enter from Hwy 30/Harvey Rd. If you're heading east from Hwy 6, take the first left after Veterans Park. The flyer says there is no entry from University Dr. East/Hwy 60, even though TCEQ lists a University Drive East address, so don't follow map directions to that side. It's a drive-through: put paint in the trunk or truck bed and stay in your car while staff unload it.

Twin Oaks Landfill – free paint hardener (Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency)

2690 State Hwy 30, Anderson, TX 77830

Accepts
Twin Oaks gives out free waste paint hardener to mix into wet paint (oil or water based) so you can throw the hardened paint away. Its oil recycling center takes motor oil, cooking oil, antifreeze and oil filters. Its pages don't list liquid paint as a drop-off item outside the April and October events.
Who can use it
Twin Oaks says the landfill is a public facility with no residency or commercial limits. It doesn't say who can pick up hardener; ask at the scale house.
Hours
Landfill hours: Monday–Friday 7 a.m.–5 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m.–1 p.m. Closed Sunday, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. No appointment needed.
Load limits
No limit on hardener is published.
Fees
Hardener is free. Trash brought to the landfill pays the posted rates. Loads that aren't covered and tied down may be charged an extra $30.

Twin Oaks says sand or cat litter also hardens wet paint, and once it's solid it can go in your regular trash or to the landfill. Spray cans can be sprayed out onto cardboard until empty, then trashed.

THE LOCAL ANSWER

Bring your paint to the free Brazos Valley household hazardous waste event on Saturday, October 24, 2026, 7 a.m.–2 p.m., at the TAMU University Services Building (enter from Harvey Rd.). It takes latex, oil-based and spray paint. If you can't wait for the next event (held each April and October), get free hardener at Twin Oaks Landfill; Twin Oaks says hardened paint can go in your regular trash.

We found no year-round paint drop-off in College Station or Bryan. Twin Oaks Landfill and the cities of Bryan and College Station hold a free household hazardous waste day twice a year (April and October) at the Texas A&M University Services Building. The fall 2026 date is Saturday, October 24. Between events, Twin Oaks gives out free paint hardener.

Mark Saturday, October 24

The fall event runs 7 a.m.–2 p.m., rain or shine, at the TAMU University Services Building. It takes latex, oil-based and spray paint, stain, varnish, caulk and thinner, all free.

Come in from Harvey Road

Enter from Hwy 30/Harvey Rd. Coming east from Hwy 6, take the first left after Veterans Park. You can't get in from University Dr. East/Hwy 60.

Missed it? Get free hardener

Twin Oaks Landfill, 2690 State Hwy 30, hands out free paint hardener. Mix it into the paint, let it set, and throw the solid paint away. Sand or cat litter also work, Twin Oaks says.

The whole Brazos Valley can come

TCEQ's list says the event serves Brazos, Robertson, Leon, Burleson, Madison, Grimes and Washington counties. So people from Bryan, Navasota, Brenham, Caldwell, Hearne and Madisonville use the same Saturday.

No medicine, no business waste

Medications are no longer taken at these events. Business waste, tires, ammunition, 55-gallon drums and household trash are turned away too.

Free pickup programs and other options

Texas has no PaintCare program, so stores won't take paint back. Twin Oaks suggests using what you can, giving it away, or storing it until the next event. You can also harden paint with Twin Oaks' free hardener, sand or cat litter and put it in the trash. TCEQ says a can less than a quarter full can be left open to dry, then trashed.

Keep paint in the original, labeled can with the lid on tight. Don't mix products. Load it in the trunk or truck bed, not the cab. Stay in your car at the event; workers unload it. Bring medicines somewhere else.

Sources and how we checked10

Checked October 13, 2026: Twin Oaks' household hazardous waste page, its fall 2026 flyer, its accepted-materials list and alternative-options sheet (PDFs), its FAQ page, TCEQ's HHW contacts list (dated Sept. 22, 2026), the City of Bryan's and College Station's October 2025 event notices, TCEQ's HHW guide and PaintCare's locator data. The Oct. 24, 2026 date appears on the Twin Oaks page, its flyer and TCEQ's list; Only PaintCare's listing gives the spring date (April 18, 2026), which has passed. Address conflict: TCEQ lists 3380 University Drive East, but the flyer says no entry from University Dr. East/Hwy 60, so we tell people to enter from Harvey Rd. Twin Oaks' alternatives sheet says paint solidified with hardener, sand or cat litter can go in your regular trash or to the landfill; the City of Bryan's 2025 notice says household hazardous waste should never be placed for regular garbage collection. We follow Twin Oaks (the agency that runs the event and the landfill) and credit the trash advice to it. The 3380 University Drive East address comes only from TCEQ's list. Neither city publishes its own curbside paint rule. Not found: any year-round drop-off in Brazos County, quantity limits for the event, or a business option.
