Everything you need to get rid of leftover paint responsibly in Brookings.

616 Memory Ln, Brookings, OR 97415
PaintCare's annual report lists it as a reuse store. The website PaintCare lists for it didn't load, and currycommunitycares.org was an "under construction" page when we checked, so its hours, limit and who can use it come only from PaintCare. Call first. It took about 258 gallons in 2025.
711 Chetco Ave, Brookings, OR 97415
Curry Transfer & Recycling names this store as a place for latex paint. It took about 423 gallons in 2025, the most of the Brookings sites.
16016 Hwy 101 S, Brookings, OR 97415
Small limit; fine for a few cans. Gold Beach Lumber locations in Gold Beach and Port Orford are also on PaintCare's list with the same 5-gallon limit.
17498 Carpenterville Rd, Brookings, OR 97415
To get there, Curry Transfer says to turn east off Highway 101 onto Carpenterville Road at South Coast Lumber, then turn left into the yard. Bring paint to a PaintCare site instead of the transfer site.
4 paint stores and 1 hazardous waste site, closest first. Paint stores take house paint, stain and varnish, usually up to a set amount per visit. Hazardous waste sites also take chemicals like thinner, but some only serve local residents. Call before you go.

PaintCare's list shows no Brookings site that takes that much in one visit. Bring 20 gallons to Curry Community Cares and 15 to Cascade Home Center, and the last few cans to Gold Beach Lumber or a second trip.
None of the PaintCare stops take them. Store them safely until the next Curry County event (Curry Transfer says it's generally in August; no date is posted), or call Coos County Solid Waste at 541-396-7624 to ask about a Beaver Hill appointment.
Curry Community Cares is on PaintCare's report as a reuse store, and Curry Transfer suggests giving usable paint to neighbors or family. Ask the store whether it can put your cans back into use.
You can use the PaintCare stores only if your business is a very small (exempt) generator, which is about 25 gallons of hazardous waste a month or less. Latex is fine either way. If you're bigger than that, oil-based paint needs a licensed hazardous waste hauler.
Take up to 20 gallons of labeled latex or oil-based paint to Curry Community Cares, 616 Memory Ln, Tuesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (hours and limit from PaintCare's list only); it's free through Oregon's PaintCare program. Cascade Home Center, 711 Chetco Ave, takes 15 gallons a visit. Spray paint and other chemicals go to Curry County's yearly collection day, which was August 15 in 2026.
In Brookings, Oregon (Curry County), you drop leftover paint at stores and a reuse shop on PaintCare's list, not at a county hazardous waste site. Curry Community Cares on Memory Lane takes 20 gallons a visit, Cascade Home Center on Chetco Avenue 15 and Gold Beach Lumber on Highway 101 South 5. Curry Transfer & Recycling names no year-round chemical drop-off in Curry County; spray cans and chemicals wait for one collection day a year at its Carpenterville Road yard, or go to Beaver Hill in Coos County by appointment.
PaintCare's list (the only source for these limits) gives Curry Community Cares 20 gallons a visit, Cascade Home Center 15 and Gold Beach Lumber on Highway 101 South 5. In 2025, PaintCare's report shows Cascade took about 423 gallons, Gold Beach Lumber's Brookings store 405 and Curry Community Cares 258. Oregon DEQ counts 79% of Curry County's paint as collected at stores.
Curry Transfer & Recycling says Curry County has one collection event a year, generally in August, run with Coos County. The 2026 event was Saturday, August 15, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Brookings Transfer Site on Carpenterville Road. It's over. The 2025 Brookings event collected about 536 gallons of paint, according to PaintCare's report.
Curry Transfer says household chemicals can be dropped off by appointment at Coos County's Beaver Hill Disposal Site, north of Bandon. PaintCare lists Beaver Hill for paint Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., up to 80 gallons (PaintCare-only fact). Call Coos County Solid Waste at 541-396-7624 before you make the drive.
Curry Transfer & Recycling's service rules list oil-based paint as a restricted item, along with motor oil, car batteries and propane tanks. Its transfer sites take motor oil, car batteries and fluorescent bulbs all year, but paint isn't on their list. Call 541-469-2425 with questions.
PaintCare lists the Del Norte County Transfer Station in Crescent City, California, for households and very small businesses in Del Norte County (PaintCare-only fact). Brookings residents should use the Oregon sites.
If you have 100 gallons or more, ask PaintCare for a free large-volume pickup. Curry Transfer & Recycling suggests passing paint in good shape to friends, relatives or neighbors. Gold Beach Lumber's stores in Gold Beach and Port Orford are also on PaintCare's list, each with a 5-gallon limit. Coos County's events say paint can be brought to Beaver Hill any time it's open instead of waiting in line at an event.

Keep paint in its original can with the label readable and the lid on tight. Leaking, unlabeled and empty cans aren't taken, and neither is spray paint. Count your gallons before you go so you stay under each site's limit. For an event, pack chemicals upright in a lined, sturdy box, and put leaking containers inside a larger lidded container with kitty litter.
Full preparation checklist →Curry Community Cares, 616 Memory Ln (20 gallons a visit); Cascade Home Center, 711 Chetco Ave (15 gallons); and Gold Beach Lumber, 16016 Hwy 101 S (5 gallons). All three are on PaintCare's list and free.
Curry Transfer & Recycling doesn't list paint for its transfer sites on regular days. It points latex paint to Cascade Home Center and Gold Beach Lumber. Its Carpenterville Road yard hosted the 2026 hazardous waste event.
No date is posted. The 2026 event was August 15. Curry Transfer says the county's event is generally in August. Call Coos County Solid Waste at 541-396-7624 for updates.
PaintCare sites don't take aerosols. Hold them for the yearly event, or call 541-396-7624 about an appointment at Beaver Hill.
PaintCare's list says Cascade Home Center and Gold Beach Lumber take paint from businesses, and Curry Community Cares from very small businesses. Oil-based paint is only for very small (exempt) generators. For other chemicals, Curry Transfer says a small business may be able to arrange a drop-off with the event contractor; Coos County's Clean Harbors form must be approved a week before an event, and fees are paid in advance.
Checked October 16, 2026: PaintCare locator rows for Brookings, Gold Beach, Port Orford, Beaver Hill and Crescent City; PaintCare's Oregon, business-limits and large-volume pages; PaintCare's 2025 Oregon annual report (site gallons; 536 gallons at the 2025 Curry County Transfer Station event; no underserved-area event for Curry) and Oregon DEQ's 2025 volume estimate (Curry: 2,572 gallons, 79% retail, 21% solid waste sites); Curry Transfer & Recycling's household hazardous waste, transfer sites, depots, announcement and cart guideline pages; Coos County's HHW page, 2026 event list, June 2026 press release and Clean Harbors business form. No calls or visits. Curry Community Cares' website was a placeholder, so its hours come only from PaintCare. The Beaver Hill appointment drop-off is stated by Curry Transfer; Coos County's own pages didn't describe it. The event item list and fee note come from Coos County's June 20 Beaver Hill release, not an August notice. The website PaintCare lists for Curry Community Cares didn't load. The City of Brookings website had no garbage or paint page we could find. Not settled: whether a 2027 Brookings event will be held, and transfer-site fees.
