Book with OCRRA before going to Miller; a walk-in can bring charges. Label the latex and the other chemicals separately, follow the email’s packing steps, and stay under the household limits.
Don’t waste an appointment on empty or dried cans; OCRRA won’t take them. Check OCRRA’s materials directory. Paint chips, lead debris and used motor oil need their own place too.
For paint only, use Syracuse Habitat ReStore; no appointment needed. For other household chemicals, book OCRRA at Miller. Don’t bring oil-based paint, stain or sealer to Miller while its July 2026 pause is posted.
Key Syracuse detail: Miller has paused oil products. OCRRA still books chemical drop-off there, so paint type decides if Miller works.
OCRRA’s July 2026 notice pauses oil-based paint, stain and sealer at Miller. The general list still shows oil paint, so follow the newer notice and find another site on the PaintCare locator.
Thinner, stripper or spray paint needs an OCRRA appointment. Walking in can bring private charges. Households get two visits a year.
Syracuse qualifies. The town and village of Skaneateles don’t, and business chemicals aren’t covered.
For paint only, OCRRA points you to PaintCare sites. The October 3, 2026 paint event is over; check the event calendar or locator. Large stockpiles (100 gallons and up) may get a free PaintCare pickup.

Full preparation checklist →No. Ask first; don’t assume the pause is waived.
