From PaintCare’s drop-off map ↗, updated October 6, 2026. Hours and limits are PaintCare’s. Distances are straight-line, not driving.
October is still in the May–October Saturday window, 8 am–noon. From November, plan a weekday unless the county posts otherwise. Check in at the landfill office and follow signs; not everything can be dumped with garbage.
The county’s hauler manual describes a separate latex house-paint program for businesses. Call to check sign-up, rules and what it takes. It doesn’t cover oil paint, solvents or other business chemicals. Don’t pass business paint off as household waste.
Keep paint cans apart from debris and tie down the load. Free household hazardous waste doesn’t make the whole load free; ask about each fee. Ask ahead about damaged or oversized containers.
Crow Wing County’s hazardous waste site is at the landfill on Highway 210. It’s free for households. Saturday hours are May–October only. The county’s business latex program is separate from household drop-off.
Brainerd’s county hazardous waste site is east of town on Highway 210. It takes a mixed household painting cleanup, but Saturday hours stop in November.
Saturday mornings, 8 a.m.–noon, are May–October only, so October 31, 2026 is the last Saturday until May. November through April, go on a weekday (8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.). Ignore older summer press releases.
Everyone stops at the landfill office. Tell the attendant what you have and follow directions to the hazardous waste site, not the garbage area.
A PaintCare store can take a few cans. For a large load, ask for free pickup at View program details ↗ . Business oil-based paint needs a separately approved option.

Tie down and cover your load as the county requires. Keep paint easy to reach and apart from other waste so staff can check it.
Full preparation checklist →No. Only May–October.
Maybe. The county manual describes a free latex house-paint program for businesses, but the hazardous waste page says no business waste. Call first. Don’t assume business oil paint is taken.
Ask about the contractor latex program and bulk household paint. Rechecked October 6, 2026: weekday and May–October Saturday hours, landfill check-in and the no-business-waste rule.
