17502 Iris Rd, Little Falls, MN 56345
The landfill's posted hours (Monday–Friday 8 am–4:30 pm, Saturday 8 am–noon) have no season, but that doesn't mean it takes paint outside April 15–September 30. The county says to call the landfill operator at 320-632-1944 for hazardous waste hours. The site is on County Road 35 (Iris Road), 2.7 miles east of US Highway 10, according to the county.
211 Broadway E, Little Falls, MN 56345
Ace Hardware at 1101 2nd Ave NE (320-616-7026) is the other Little Falls store on PaintCare's list, also 5 gallons per visit. Both stores' paint facts come only from PaintCare. Stores may turn paint away when they're full, so call first. Hardware Hank's Broadway store is also on the county's list of places that take fluorescent bulbs for a fee.
15728 MN Hwy 210, Brainerd, MN 56401
PaintCare lists this site for Morrison County households, so it's an option when Morrison's own site isn't taking hazardous waste (it takes it only April 15 to September 30). The address and the phone 218-824-1297 come from PaintCare; Crow Wing's page gives neither and doesn't mention Morrison residents, so call before you drive. A reuse area at the Crow Wing recycling center offers usable products that came in through the program.
3 paint stores and 2 hazardous waste sites, closest first. Paint stores take house paint, stain and varnish, usually up to a set amount per visit. Hazardous waste sites also take chemicals like thinner, but some only serve local residents. Call before you go.

Outside the county's season, bring up to 5 gallons per trip to Hardware Hank or Ace in Little Falls. For spray cans, thinner and the rest, either store them until Morrison County's site reopens April 15, or call Crow Wing County at 218-824-1297 about bringing them to Brainerd.
Store cans with the lids on tight, then bring everything to the county landfill on Iris Road between April 15 and September 30. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the county's preferred days. It's free for Morrison County residents.
Morrison County won't take business or farm waste. Use the Little Falls stores for a few cans at a time. With 100 gallons or more, ask PaintCare for a free pickup.
Nilsons DIB Hardware and Rent It Center at 207 Degraff Ave takes 5 gallons per visit, according to PaintCare. In season, you can also use the Morrison County site.
Morrison County's free household hazardous waste drop-off at the landfill, 17502 Iris Rd, is open only April 15 to September 30. Outside that season, take up to 5 gallons of house paint to Little Falls Hardware Hank (211 Broadway E) or Ace Hardware (1101 2nd Ave NE). For larger loads, PaintCare lists Crow Wing County's site in Brainerd for Morrison households; call 218-824-1297 first.
Little Falls, Minnesota, is home to Morrison County's government center (this isn't Little Falls, New York). Morrison County takes household paint for free at its landfill on Iris Road, but only from April 15 to September 30. Outside that season, your options are two Little Falls hardware stores that take up to 5 gallons, or Crow Wing County's site in Brainerd, which PaintCare lists for Morrison County households.
Morrison County takes household hazardous waste only from April 15 to September 30, at 17502 Iris Rd (County Road 35). In season it's open weekdays 8 am–4:30 pm and Saturdays 8 am–noon. The county prefers Tuesdays and Thursdays. Outside that season, take paint to a store or hold it until April 15, when it's free again.
Little Falls Hardware Hank and Rental, 211 Broadway E, and Ace Hardware, 1101 2nd Ave NE, are both on PaintCare's list. Each takes 5 gallons of house paint, stain or varnish per visit. They don't take spray cans or other chemicals. Call first.
PaintCare lists Crow Wing County's hazardous waste site at 15728 MN Hwy 210 in Brainerd for Crow Wing, Morrison and Todd households. Crow Wing's own page doesn't mention Morrison residents, so call 218-824-1297 (the number PaintCare lists) first. Check in at the landfill office when you arrive.
Morrison County posts clean-up day flyers for its townships. Little Falls Township's 2026 day (Saturday, May 2, already past) took only appliances, electronics and tires, and only from township residents outside city limits. Don't plan on it for paint.
Morrison County's site refuses business, commercial and farm waste. A contractor or farm with a few cans can use the two Little Falls stores, which PaintCare lists for businesses. Larger loads need PaintCare's free pickup (100 gallons or more).
Nilsons DIB Hardware and Rent It Center, 207 Degraff Ave in Swanville, is on PaintCare's list (5 gallons). Stearns County's site in Waite Park, used in the St. Cloud guide, is listed by PaintCare for Benton, Stearns and other counties but not Morrison. Todd County's site in Browerville is for Todd households. For 100 gallons or more, ask PaintCare for a free pickup.

Keep paint in its original labeled can with the lid on tight. Morrison County won't take a container if it can't tell what's inside. Pack cans upright in a box. The stores take only house paint, stain and varnish, so take spray cans and thinner to the county site in season.
Full preparation checklist →Morrison County's site takes hazardous waste only April 15 to September 30. Outside that season, take up to 5 gallons to Little Falls Hardware Hank (211 Broadway E) or Ace Hardware (1101 2nd Ave NE). No. PaintCare stores don't take aerosols. Hold spray cans for Morrison County's site, which lists aerosol cans and paint thinner among the items it takes.
If you live in Morrison County, you use the same county site on Iris Road, in season. Swanville also has Nilsons DIB Hardware on Degraff Ave on PaintCare's list for a few cans. If your home is in another county, use that county's program.
No. It takes household waste only and refuses business, commercial and farm waste. The two Little Falls stores take up to 5 gallons per visit from businesses.
Checked October 16, 2026 from Morrison County's Special Waste page, its household hazardous waste flyer, the landfill facility page, the township clean-up day page and Little Falls Township's 2026 flyer, Crow Wing County's hazardous waste page and PaintCare's Minnesota page and locator data; no calls or visits. The county says hazardous waste is taken April 15–September 30 and to call the landfill operator for hours; we found nothing about paint outside that season. PaintCare lists Crow Wing's Brainerd site for Morrison households, but Crow Wing's page doesn't say so, gives no address or phone, and lists different hours. We read only Little Falls Township's clean-up flyer, not the other townships'. The City of Little Falls garbage page returned an error, so we found no city rule on paint or dried latex. Store hours weren't checked.
