Store them safely until Skowhegan's 2027 day, or drive to AVCOG's Lewiston depot on one of its set Saturdays (May to October) and pay $50 per 5-gallon unit. Maine DEP says the Lewiston depot and Riverside in Portland take household waste from any Maine resident.
None of Skowhegan's PaintCare sites take aerosols. Hold them for a hazardous waste day.
If you live in Skowhegan and have a dump sticker, take up to 10 gallons of house paint to the transfer station at 29 Transfer Station Drive, Tuesday–Saturday, 7 a.m.–3:45 p.m. No sticker, or not a Skowhegan resident? Use Quinn True Value on Waterville Road or Sherwin-Williams on Madison Avenue (5 gallons a visit). Thinner and other chemicals wait for a 2027 hazardous waste day, or go to the Lewiston depot (set Saturdays, May to October) or Riverside in Portland (first Saturdays, April to November) for a fee.

PaintCare gives the transfer station a 10-gallon limit per visit, twice the store limit. It also takes empty paint cans, which the stores won't. For a basement full of cans, one trip to Transfer Station Drive beats several trips to Waterville Road.
KVCOG's 2026 schedule had Skowhegan, Madison and Canaan sharing one collection at the transfer station on October 3, 9 a.m.–noon. For the 2023 day, Skowhegan required you to register at the Town Office first and gave you an arrival time. Watch for the 2027 date.
KVCOG set Fairfield's 2026 hazardous waste day, shared with Winslow, Oakland and others, for Saturday, October 17, 2026, 8 a.m.–noon, at Winslow Public Works. KVCOG's 2026 schedule doesn't list Norridgewock. Check with your own town office before driving to Skowhegan.
