In Wichita, Kansas, paint goes to the Sedgwick County Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 801 W. Stillwell, south of Kellogg off Seneca. It’s free for anyone who lives in Sedgwick County and is open Tuesday through Saturday. Kansas has no paint recycling program, so this county site is your main option.
Five days a week, no Sundays or Mondays
Drop-off runs Tuesday–Friday 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Find it at the corner of Osage and Stillwell, south of Kellogg off Seneca.
Wichita, Derby, Haysville: same county, same site
The facility is open to any Sedgwick County resident, not just Wichita. Drop-off costs nothing for county residents.
Free paint in the Swap and Shop
Residents can take home free items, including paint: up to 10 per vehicle and 10 per person in a month. Shop hours are Tuesday–Friday 9–4 and Saturday 9–3. The facility held a grand reopening in August 2025.
Don’t collect for the whole block
The county strongly discourages gathering neighbors’ paint into one big load. If you haul someone else’s waste, you take on the liability, and the county says it takes a KDHE and EPA permit.
Small shops can use it, for a fee
Businesses that make less than 55 pounds of hazardous waste a month can use the Small Quantity Generator program. PaintCare’s listing says there’s a fee; call 316-660-7464 for the rate and how to book.
