The amnesty page doesn't show a year, but its Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17 dates match 2026, and PaintCare's listing gives the same 2026 dates. An amnesty Saturday is the only weekend time you can drop off paint at the landfill.
Your state doesn’t have a PaintCare program, so stores here don’t take paint for free. These are the public drop-off programs PaintCare’s map lists, closest first. Most only serve their own residents and some charge a fee. Call before you go.

The county facility is for Bay County residents, and the city's bulk pickup isn't offered to condos or apartment complexes (it doesn't take paint anyway). Leave unopened paint with the owner or manager, and let them handle it.
The Steelfield facility isn't allowed to take business hazardous waste, and amnesty days charge commercial loads. The county says businesses must hire a private hazardous waste handler. Bay County's small quantity generator program, 850-236-2211, can explain the rules.
Stir in sawdust or non-clay kitty litter until it's solid, then put it in your regular garbage. The county describes this method for paint.

Bay County's spring and fall Waste Amnesty Days also take paint at the same landfill; the fall 2026 days were set for Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Paint from Panama City Beach, Florida, goes to Bay County's Household Hazardous Waste Facility at the Steelfield Road Landfill, 11411 Landfill Road, in West Bay off State Road 79. It takes latex and oil-based paint free from Bay County residents on weekdays. The city's own bulk pickup won't take paint, and neither will the county's Bayline Drive drop-off in Panama City.
The county's 2026 disposal guide says hazardous waste drop-off is Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no weekend drop-off. The landfill itself stays open Saturdays for trash. The exception is the Saturday of a spring or fall Waste Amnesty weekend.
Bay County holds Waste Amnesty Days in spring and fall, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The fall 2026 days were set for Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17; PaintCare's listing gives spring 2026's as April 17 and 18. Paint, pesticides, used oil and batteries are on the list, and landfill fees are waived for residents. Loads in commercial vehicles or trailers pay normal fees.

The county says leftover paint can be made solid by mixing it with sawdust or non-clay kitty litter and then put in the regular garbage. It doesn't separate latex from oil-based paint here, so the landfill drop-off is the safer choice for oil-based paint.
Florida has no PaintCare program, so stores don't take paint back. Bay County's own pamphlet suggests giving extra paint to neighbors or theater groups. Businesses can't use the facility; the county says they must hire a private hazardous waste handler, and its small quantity generator program (850-236-2211) can explain the rules.

Keep paint in its original containers with lids on tight. Load the cans where you can lift them out easily, since hazardous items are unloaded at a separate drop-off area. Bring a driver's license, power bill or voter registration card that shows a Bay County address. Use your own car, not a work truck or trailer.

Checked October 16, 2026: Bay County's Solid Waste page (HHW facility at Steelfield Road Landfill, 850-236-2211; landfill Monday to Saturday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Bayline Drive takes small trash loads only), its 2026 Solid Waste Disposal Guide (HHW Monday to Friday 7 to 4:30, no weekend drop-off; no charge for residents; no commercial waste), its HHW pamphlet, linked as the 2026 guide (latex and oil-based paint listed; Monday to Friday; West Bay), the Disposal Restrictions page (facility beside the scale house; paint can be solidified with sawdust or non-clay kitty litter and trashed; businesses must use private handlers), the Waste Amnesty Days page (Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17, no year shown; matches 2026 and PaintCare's listing; off State 79), the City of Panama City Beach bulk waste page (opened in a browser; paint and paint thinners excluded; 2026 dates in April and September; not for condos or apartments), and PaintCare's locator data (Florida has no PaintCare program; it lists HHW hours as Monday to Thursday, which conflicts with the county guide, and is the only source for the spring 2026 amnesty dates).
