Jacksonville (Duval County) has one year-round drop-off for paint: the city's household hazardous waste facility on Commonwealth Avenue near the Westside. It is free for Duval residents, open Tuesday through Saturday, and caps paint at 27 gallons per 30 days. Florida has no store take-back for paint.
It's closed Sunday and Monday
The Commonwealth Avenue facility runs Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A Monday trip after a weekend painting job will hit a locked gate.
The 27-gallon rule is per 30 days
Each Duval resident can drop off up to 27 gallons of paint in a 30-day period. Clearing a whole garage? Split it into two trips a month apart, or ask the facility at 904-387-8847 first.
Beach towns count as Duval
The 2026 event list included Jacksonville Beach Public Works on Shetter Avenue, and every event is open to all Duval residents. If you live in Clay, St. Johns or Nassau County, you are a non-resident here and will pay.
Paying? Bring a check
Non-residents and very small businesses pay $4.25 a gallon for flammable liquids like oil-based paint and $1.25 for latex, plus a documentation fee. The city takes only checks or money orders made out to Tax Collector.
