Lake Havasu City and Republic Services Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste Event (Fire Station 2)

2065 Kiowa Blvd. N, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403

Accepts
In 2026: oil and latex paint, stains, varnishes, solvents, thinners and adhesives; car fluids, filters, batteries, gasoline and up to four tires off the rim; flammable liquids and aerosol cans; unbroken fluorescent tubes and bulbs; household batteries; and up to three electronic items. Not accepted: pesticides, poisons, corrosives, medical waste, broken lights, construction debris, industrial adhesives, medicines, explosives, compressed gas cylinders other than propane, and radioactive material.
Who can use it
Lake Havasu City residents only. Bring ID with a Lake Havasu City address or a recent bill showing city trash service. No commercial or industrial waste.
Hours
Event only. The last one listed was Saturday, April 18, 2026, 8 a.m. to noon, with public access from College Drive. As of October 17, 2026, the city's calendar showed no later date. The city's pages disagree on how often it happens: the Trash & Recycling page says once a year, with dates posted when scheduled, while the Hazardous Waste page says Republic Services offers two collection days each year.
Load limits
Paint up to 15 gallons, combined into five- or six-gallon buckets if you can. Up to 30 gallons of car fluids.
Fees
Free.

Three sources disagree. The city's Trash & Recycling page says one collection day a year; its Hazardous Waste page says two a year; and a Mohave County Stormwater page with Lake Havasu City's wording says the city no longer holds a single collection day and offers year-round steps instead. The calendar lists 928-505-7410 as the event contact; the Trash & Recycling page gives Fire Department Administration at 928-855-1141. Call either for the next date.

Lake Havasu City Landfill (Republic Services; trash, not a paint drop-off)

3251 Chenoweth Rd., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404

Accepts
Trash by weight. The city's pages don't list paint for the landfill. They send dried paint to the household trash cart instead.
Who can use it
Not stated. The city's bulk pickup (up to six times a year, four items each) is offered so single-family homes in city limits can avoid a landfill fee.
Hours
Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m. to noon.
Load limits
Not published for paint.
Fees
Cash only, charged by weight. Rates aren't published on the city's pages.

The Trash & Recycling page says the landfill is 2 miles east off Highway 95 at 3251 Chenoweth Rd., 86404; the Hazardous Waste page writes 3251 Chenoweth Dr., 86403. Republic Services' office is also listed two ways: 2011 College Dr. on the Trash & Recycling page and 2001 College Dr. on the Hazardous Waste page. Both use 928-855-9441, so call to confirm the address. Republic's office takes up to 10 gallons of gasoline or used oil at $4.50 a gallon, but paint isn't on its list.

Mohave County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events (Kingman and Bullhead City)

3670 E. Andy Devine Ave, Kingman, AZ 86401 (Kingman event); 1325 Alonas Way, Bullhead City (Bullhead City event)

Accepts
Paint products including latex and oil-based paint and paint thinners, water sealers, plus aerosol cans, car fluids, tires off the rim, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, electronics, fertilizer, fuel, pesticides, pool chemicals and other labeled household products. Not accepted: commercial or industrial waste, explosives, radioactive waste, ammunition, furniture, appliances, commercial tires and any material from businesses or institutions.
Who can use it
Mohave County residents; no business or institutional waste. Mohave County's website lists Lake Havasu City among its communities.
Hours
The county's page listed its fall 2026 events for Saturday, October 17, 2026 in Kingman and Sunday, October 18, 2026 in Bullhead City, both 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Motor Vehicle Division. The county says events may be canceled without notice if hazardous weather threatens safety.
Load limits
No paint limit is published.
Fees
Free to residents of Mohave County.

These events are run by the county with the Kingman and Bullhead City fire departments and the Kingman Clean City Commission, not by Lake Havasu City. The fall 2026 dates were the review date and the day after, so don't build your plan around them. Check the county page or call 928-757-0903 for later dates.

Which option fits your Lake Havasu City cleanout?4
02

Ten gallons of wet oil-based stain from a deck job

That's under the 15-gallon cap the 2026 collection day used, and the event took stain. The city's Hazardous Waste page says residents may store household hazards and bring them on collection day, so you can hold it for the next date and bring ID or a trash bill. The city's drying steps say "paint" without saying whether that includes oil-based stain.

04

A rental property manager or contractor with leftover paint

The city event and the county events both refuse commercial waste, and no page reviewed gives a business option. Arizona DEQ's household page says it doesn't collect hazardous waste itself and names commercially run transfer stations that choose to take household waste. Lake Havasu City's wording on Mohave County's Stormwater page says Fire Administration (928-855-1141) may be able to point you to a disposal company.

Lake Havasu City rules and tips5
THE LOCAL ANSWER

Dry leftover paint with kitty litter, sand or a hardening agent, or let it harden with the lid open, then put it in your Republic Services trash cart. Never put liquid paint in the cart. Wet paint can go to the city's yearly household hazardous waste day (up to 15 gallons in 2026, residents only), but no 2027 date was posted as of October 17, 2026.

In Lake Havasu City, Arizona, leftover paint goes in the trash once it's dried, using kitty litter, sand or a hardener. Wet paint can wait for the yearly free collection day the city holds with Republic Services, last held April 18, 2026. The city's pages disagree on whether it's once or twice a year. Arizona has no PaintCare program, so there is no PaintCare store drop-off network here.

Dried paint is regular trash here

The city's Hazardous Waste page says letting paint dry lets you throw it out with regular garbage. Open the lid and let it harden, or buy a hardening agent at a hardware store. The trash cart rules say paint can be dried with kitty litter or sand and placed in the cart.

No liquids in the cart

The city's cart rules for Republic Services carts ban tires, car batteries, liquids and other hazardous wastes, and allow residential household waste only. Commercial and remodeling debris are also out. Questions about carts go to 928-505-7410.

Spray paint goes on cardboard

The city says to spray leftover spray paint onto a piece of cardboard and put it in regular trash.

The yearly collection day took 15 gallons

The April 18, 2026 event at Fire Station 2 took up to 15 gallons of oil or latex paint, stain, varnish, solvent and thinner, ideally in five- or six-gallon buckets. It was for residents only, with ID or a recent city trash bill. The city calendar showed no later date on October 17, 2026. The Trash & Recycling page says the event is once a year, but the Hazardous Waste page says Republic offers two collection days a year.

Mohave County runs separate events

Mohave County holds free events for county residents in Kingman and Bullhead City that take latex and oil-based paint and thinners. Its page listed the fall 2026 events for Saturday, October 17 in Kingman and Sunday, October 18 in Bullhead City. Neither is in Lake Havasu City, so treat them as an extra option, not your plan, and check the county page (928-757-0903) for later dates.

Free pickup programs and other options

Arizona has no PaintCare program, and PaintCare's locator data has no Lake Havasu City listing; it shows Mohave County's Kingman event as a non-program listing. Arizona DEQ says it doesn't collect household hazardous waste. It points households to city or county programs, approved transfer stations, commercially run transfer stations that choose to take it, and retailers or specialized companies. The city's free bulk pickup (six times a year, four items each, single-family homes in city limits, booked through Republic at 928-855-9441) isn't for hazardous waste. The city's Hazardous Waste page says many local businesses take some household hazards all year. Lake Havasu City's wording on Mohave County's Stormwater page says Fire Administration (928-855-1141) may be able to help you find a free option or a disposal company for items not on its list.

If a can has a little paint left, open the lid and let it harden. Mohave County's steps add: make sure the can is half full or less, and pour any extra into another container to dry. For more, stir in kitty litter, sand or a hardening agent until no liquid is left, then put it in your trash cart with the cart lid closed. Spray cans: spray the rest onto cardboard and toss both. If you're saving wet paint for the next collection day, the 2026 event asked people to combine paint into five- or six-gallon buckets if possible and to bring ID with a Lake Havasu City address or a recent trash bill.

Sources and how we checked8

October 17, 2026: read Lake Havasu City's Hazardous Waste and Trash & Recycling pages, its calendar entry for the April 18, 2026 event (a calendar search from January 2025 to December 2027 found no other event), its recycling brochure, the Mohave County Stormwater disposal page, Mohave County's household hazardous waste page (fall 2026 dates; its site menu lists Lake Havasu City among county communities) and Arizona DEQ's HHW page (opened in a browser). Old lhcaz.gov event and news links now return 404. PaintCare locator data: Mohave County/Kingman record 17607 is a non-program listing; nothing in Lake Havasu City. Conflicts: the Stormwater page says the city no longer holds a single collection day, the Trash page says once a year, and the Hazardous Waste page says two a year, while the calendar shows only April 18, 2026; the landfill is Chenoweth Rd. (86404) on one page and Chenoweth Dr. (86403) on another; Republic's office is 2011 College Dr. on one city page and 2001 College Dr. on another. Peer review (October 17, 2026): Mohave County fall dates reworded so they read correctly after the events; ADEQ is cited only for household waste. Unresolved: the 2027 event date, whether the landfill takes any paint, and whether the city's drying advice is meant to cover oil-based paint (it says 'paint' without separating types).
