309 Wellsian Way, Richland, WA 99352
Not on PaintCare's Richland or Kennewick maps as of October 6, 2026. Think of it as donating good paint, not recycling old paint.
7 paint stores and 1 hazardous waste site, closest first. Paint stores take house paint, stain and varnish, usually up to a set amount per visit. Hazardous waste sites also take chemicals like thinner, but some only serve local residents. Call before you go.

Horn Rapids is open Monday–Saturday 8–4, closed city holidays including Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday. It takes motor oil and car batteries, not paint. The resident rate needs proof of current city garbage service and ID matching the utility bill. Save the paint for Ely Street or a PaintCare store.
Benton's Ely Street site takes paint and solvents. It won't take alkaline, lithium-ion or lithium-metal batteries, including vapes. Horn Rapids takes car and rechargeable batteries. Split it up: batteries to the landfill, paint and thinner to Ely Street.
George Washington Way only takes 5 gallons per visit. Keene Road takes 20, and Benton's site takes 15 from households. Choose by how much you have, not just distance.
Benton County lists Habitat at 309 Wellsian Way as a place for usable paint. Call 509-943-5555 before you bring it. Habitat isn't a PaintCare site here, so only bring sealed paint someone could buy.
Horn Rapids Landfill sends household hazardous waste to 1709 S. Ely Street in Kennewick (Tuesday–Friday 8–5, third Saturdays 8–noon). For paint only, PaintCare lists two Sherwin-Williams stores in Richland: Keene Road takes 20 gallons per visit, George Washington Way just 5. Call Habitat on Wellsian Way to donate usable cans.
Richland runs its own garbage service and Horn Rapids Landfill, but neither takes paint. Take paint and painting chemicals to Benton County's site in Kennewick or to a PaintCare store. Richland's two Sherwin-Williams stores have very different limits.
The city landfill at 3102 Twin Bridges Road takes used motor oil, antifreeze and cooking oil (5 gallons each per visit; call 509-942-7700 first to check tank levels), car and rechargeable batteries, and propane. For other household hazardous waste, it sends you to 1709 S. Ely Street in Kennewick.
PaintCare lists Sherwin-Williams on George Washington Way at 5 gallons per visit and the Keene Road store at 20 gallons. If you're clearing out a garage full of gallon cans, go to Keene Road. Call either store first.
Richland's curbside recycling won't take hazardous waste or aerosol cans. City recycling drop boxes won't take hazardous waste either. Benton County says a spray paint can with any pressure or paint left still goes to a hazardous waste site.
Benton County allows fully dried latex in your household garbage. Oil and solvent-based paint never goes in the gray cart, even when dry.
For paint only, use a Richland PaintCare store within its limit. The landfill page's DTG Recycle on Saint Street is for electronics, not paint. Business paint goes to a PaintCare store or a private hauler; the county site is households only.

Check the label. Water cleanup means latex; mineral spirits cleanup means oil-based. Bring a Richland utility bill and matching ID only if you're also dumping trash at Horn Rapids and want the resident rate.
Full preparation checklist →No. The landfill takes oil, antifreeze, cooking oil, batteries and propane. It sends other household hazardous waste to the Ely Street site in Kennewick.
Benton County. Richland's landfill page credits the Benton-Franklin Health District, but the county's own pages call it the Benton County Moderate Risk Waste Facility.
That's the limit PaintCare lists for that store. The Keene Road Sherwin-Williams lists 20 gallons. Both can change, so call first.
No. Richland's drop boxes only take cardboard, paper, cans and plastic bottles. No garbage or hazardous waste.
No. Some older pages mention yearly county events, but Benton County now has a permanent site on Ely Street.
Checked October 6, 2026 against Richland city pages, Benton County pages and PaintCare's map. Not yet settled: Richland says the Benton-Franklin Health District runs the Ely Street site, but the county says it does. Habitat's paint rules and hours, and county fees and load limits, are unknown. No calls made.
