That's WM's transfer station. It won't take liquid paint or hazardous waste, and dried paint is charged as garbage, $40.87 minimum. The county drop-off is at 1709 S. Ely. Have trash too? Go to both, but drop paint at 1709 first.
Benton is open only the third Saturday of the month, 8–noon. For 2026 holidays, it adds Saturday, November 28, 8–noon, and closes November 26–27. On other Saturdays, a PaintCare store may take a paint-only load. Call the store first.
The county site is for households only. Kennewick's PaintCare stores take households and businesses, 20 gallons per visit. Split the load between stores only if each store agrees. For 100 gallons or more, ask PaintCare about pickup.
Franklin County's Dietrich Road site in Pasco is free only for Franklin County residents. Kennewick households should use Benton's Ely Street site. Benton also sends Franklin residents back to Franklin County.
Take household paint and painting chemicals to Benton County's site at 1709 S. Ely Street. It's open Tuesday–Friday 8–5 and the third Saturday 8–noon. A Kennewick PaintCare store can also take paint only, up to its limit. WM's Kennewick Transfer Station, farther down Ely at 2627, won't take liquid paint.
Kennewick has the county's only permanent household hazardous waste site, plus four PaintCare stores in the city. Two waste sites are on South Ely Street. Only the county site at 1709 takes liquid paint.
The county site and WM's Kennewick Transfer Station share a street. WM doesn't recycle paint. It only takes fully dried paint, as garbage, for a $40.87 minimum plus tax. Take liquid oil paint, thinner and stain to 1709.
PaintCare lists the Benton site for households only. Kennewick's PaintCare stores (Miller Paint, Rodda Paint and two Sherwin-Williams stores) take households and businesses, up to 20 gallons per visit each. A painting contractor should call one of them first.
Franklin County's site at 1721 Dietrich Road in Pasco is free only for Franklin County residents, with a 10-gallon household limit. If you live in Kennewick, use Benton's site.

For PaintCare paint, check a Kennewick store on the map below; limits vary. Call the Habitat store on Wellsian Way in Richland to donate usable paint. Businesses with more than a store will take can ask PaintCare about pickup (100+ gallons) or hire a hazardous waste hauler.
