Jefferson's last 2026 event was September 12, with no 2027 date posted as of October 6, 2026. Kitsap's Imperial Way site takes Jefferson households. Check its Thursday–Saturday hours, lunch break and holiday closures (Thanksgiving weekend, December 24–January 1) before you drive.
Mallory takes latex and oil house paint, stain and varnish, but no aerosols. Save the spray can for a Jefferson event or the Kitsap site, which takes aerosols.
Waste Not Want Not on W. Sims Way buys, sells and trades building materials. The 2026 reuse guide says it takes labeled paint in unrusted cans. Call first. Paint no one would buy goes to Mallory.
Jefferson sends business hazardous waste to private companies. Its page names Clean Harbors, lists Safety-Kleen for solvents, coolants and oil at 253-561-8270, and Eco-Lube for oil recovery. The county agreement with Kitsap only covers households.
PaintCare also lists Mallory's Poulsbo store, 20530 Viking Way NW, at 10 gallons per visit. It's on the way to Imperial Way. Drop paint-only cans there and take thinner and aerosols on to Kitsap. The Arness Creek Road site near Poulsbo is still "coming soon," so don't count on it.
Mallory Paint, 315 Decatur Street, takes up to 10 gallons of PaintCare paint per visit. Jefferson's 2026 chemical events ended September 12; 2027 dates weren't posted as of October 6, 2026. For thinner, aerosols and bigger loads, Jefferson households can use South Kitsap in Bremerton, free up to 50 containers or 50 gallons.
Port Townsend has one PaintCare store downtown for paint only, and no permanent county hazardous waste site. Jefferson County holds household chemical events in spring and late summer. The rest of the year, use Kitsap's site in Bremerton.

Jefferson's transfer station at 325 County Landfill Road won't take liquids. They must be dried out and non-hazardous. The county says you can put unwanted latex in the trash after mixing in an absorbent until it's like oatmeal. Not oil paint.
The 2026 events were Saturdays 10–2: Chimacum (April 11 and September 12), the Jefferson Transit Haines Park & Ride in Port Townsend (May 9) and Quilcene (June 6). Containers weren't returned. Watch the county page for 2027 dates.
Under an agreement between the counties, Jefferson households can take up to 50 containers or 50 gallons to South Kitsap for free. For more, book an appointment. It's open Thursday–Saturday, closed noon–12:30.
Offer sealed, usable paint to Waste Not Want Not, 1532 W. Sims Way (360-912-2132). The 2026 Moving It On guide says it takes labeled paint in unrusted cans. Antifreeze, motor oil, fluorescent lights and rechargeable batteries go to the transfer station or Quilcene drop box, not the events. Businesses use private companies such as Clean Harbors or Safety-Kleen.
