No county event until fall 2027
Lehigh County says it has no fixed hazardous waste site and only holds one-day events. On October 7, 2026, its page said the next one will be in fall 2027. You'll have to pre-register online to get an appointment, and it's for Lehigh County residents only.
Dry latex the county's way
Lehigh County says: take the lid off, make sure the can is half full or less, and add clay kitty litter until it's about three-quarters full. Stir, add more litter if it's still wet, and let it harden for 1 to 2 days. Throw it out with the lid off so the trash crew can see it's dry.
Paint cans go out on bulk night
Allentown picks up dried paint cans with the lids off as your one bulk item for the week. The limit is 3 one-gallon cans or 1 five-gallon bucket. Bulk only goes out on your second collection night (Wednesday, Thursday or Friday), between 5 and 10 p.m. No liquid paint at the curb.
Oil-based paint: call 610-782-3073
Oil-based paint can't be dried in the can like latex. Lehigh County calls it combustible and asks you to call its hotline. Have the product name, can size and about how much is left. The county can also give you private disposal companies, but it says they charge at least $500.
