Six paint trips a year with your utility bill
Enid residents with a current City utility bill can make up to six household hazardous waste trips a calendar year to the landfill. Each trip can carry up to 10 gallons of paint or 20 gallons of other household hazardous waste. Extra trips cost $25. Residents also get 12 free trash trips a year.
The landfill’s own pages don’t agree
The landfill page offers household hazardous waste trips, but its rules list hazardous waste, toxic waste and liquid waste oils as not accepted. The printed guide says the landfill has areas for paint, oil, antifreeze, batteries and gasoline, but can’t take "all types of chemical or pesticides." Call 580-616-7382 to ask what they’ll take before you go.
Liquid paint is banned from poly carts
The city’s cart rules say not to put liquids in your poly cart, naming motor oil, gasoline, antifreeze and paint. No Enid page says whether dried latex can go in the cart. The Recycle Center at 115 E. Chestnut doesn’t take latex paint either.
The spring collection is for oil-based paint
The city’s household hazardous waste collection, held during its Earth Day Celebration, listed oil-based paints and stains but not latex. The 2026 event was May 2, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., at Crosslin Park (enter from 1520 W. Oxford Ave.). In 2023 it was May 13 at 100 W. Park. Mixed chemicals and commercial waste were turned away.
Businesses are on their own
The landfill prohibits commercial and industrial hazardous waste, and the spring collection refused commercial waste. City bulk pickup for businesses is limited to tree limbs. Ask Environmental Compliance at 580-616-7302, which oversees hazardous waste disposal for the city, where business paint can go.
