Paint recycling
in Oklahoma.

Paint disposal in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Oklahoma has no paint recycling program, so you use your city’s household hazardous waste site. The big ones are in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Norman and Midwest City, and each one has its own rules about who can use it.

Check your local rules.

Oklahoma DEQ calls paint household hazardous waste and points you to city collection sites. DEQ says these sites are often free if you show proof you live in that city, such as a water bill, and many take people from nearby towns for a small fee. Some need an appointment. Oklahoma City’s center on S. Portland Ave. and Tulsa’s facility on S. Galveston Ave. both take latex and oil-based paint, and both cities say dried-out latex can go in the regular trash. Tulsa suburbs need a voucher before they go. DEQ also says many sites run a swap shop where you can pick up usable leftovers for free.

No free state program.

Oklahoma doesn’t have a statewide paint program, so it depends on your city or county. Each city guide shows where latex and oil-based paint can go.

Spray cans, thinner and other chemicals?

Paint stores won’t take these. Take them to your local household hazardous waste site. Your city guide lists it.
