You pay by the gallon
Paint, thinner, sealer, enamel and polyurethane cost $2 a gallon, up to 20 gallons a week. The landfill takes cash, checks and most cards, but not tap to pay.
Drying latex saves money
The City of Asheville says to dry water-based paint with kitty litter or sand, then bag the open can for the trash. Since the county charges $2 a gallon, drying small amounts of latex at home is cheaper.
The ReStore won’t take it
Asheville Habitat’s ReStore lists paint among the liquids it doesn’t accept.
