UCRRA asks for a call two to three weeks before October 25 about unknown or repacked items. Call 845-336-0600 soon with what you know. Don’t make up labels or pass unknown liquid off as house paint.
UCRRA books on Eventbrite and keeps a waiting list. Cancel a slot you can’t use. A store lets paint-only loads skip the line, but it won’t take the other chemicals the event turns away.
The event refuses nonprofit, institution and business waste, however small. House paint can use PaintCare’s business options; UCRRA also lists hazardous waste removal companies.
For a small paint-only load, use Herzog’s on Plaza Road (5 gallons per visit). For paint plus chemicals, book UCRRA’s Sunday, October 25, 2026 event at 999 Flatbush Road, for Ulster County household waste only. It’s UCRRA’s last 2026 event; 2027 dates were still not posted on October 6, 2026.
Kingston has a store option for usable liquid house paint and an October event for bigger cleanouts, each with its own rules.
UCRRA names Herzog’s at Kingston Plaza; PaintCare lists 5 gallons per visit. For more, PaintCare lists Sherwin-Williams, 568 Albany Avenue, and Habitat ReStore Ulster County, 406 Route 28, at 10 gallons each. The ReStore posts Wednesday–Saturday, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
The October 25, 2026 Kingston event takes household paint, solvents and sprays by appointment. UCRRA holds events only in April, June, August and October, so it’s the last in 2026. Ulster residents only; no business, nonprofit or institution waste.
UCRRA wants to hear two to three weeks ahead about chemicals without labels or original containers. With an October 25 date, call soon instead of showing up with mystery cans.
If Herzog’s is full, the locator lists other stores. UCRRA also showed a paint-only event Saturday, October 10, 2026, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., at Wallkill Senior High School, 90 Robinson Drive; check who can use it. Businesses should use a paint drop-off they qualify for or a hazardous waste company; the ReStore covers households and very small businesses.

For the event, box paint apart from other chemicals, in boxes you can leave. Stay in your car while staff unload.
Full preparation checklist →No. The October 25 event runs 8 a.m.–noon by appointment only. The 999 Flatbush Road transfer station doesn’t take chemicals day to day.
Up to 220 pounds or 25 gallons, no container over 5 gallons.
Events run April, June, August and October, and the 2027 calendar was not out yet on October 6, 2026. Take paint to a PaintCare store and store other chemicals safely until then.
PaintCare’s October 6 locator gave Herzog’s 5-gallon limit and the other store limits. UCRRA’s pages that day showed October 25 sign-up open, appointments required, and events in April, June, August and October. Event boxes aren’t returned.
