THE LOCAL ANSWERMoberly's paint drop-off at 151 W. Outer Rd. is closed until spring 2027, so dry out latex paint for the trash and keep oil-based paint sealed until spring. Randolph County households can also take oil-based paint free to the regional center at 42494 Delaware Lane in Perry, which runs April to October. Its list still shows one tentative 2026 Saturday, November 7, so call 573-565-2203 before you drive.
This guide is for Moberly, Missouri, in Randolph County. The city's own paint and chemical drop-off at 151 W. Outer Rd., next to the Animal Shelter, takes both latex and oil-based paint and hands usable products back out free. Right now it's closed, and the city says it will reopen in spring 2027. Until then, Randolph County households can take oil-based paint to the regional center in Perry, and latex can be dried for the trash.
The Outer Road facility is closed until spring 2027
The city's Household Hazardous Waste page and staff directory both say the facility is closed and will reopen in spring 2027. No reopening date is posted. Call 660-269-9437 before you go.
When it's open, it takes latex too, and gives paint away
Unlike the Perry center, Moberly's facility lists both oil-based and latex paint, plus varnish and polyurethane. The city says some products are handed back out free. Everyone signs in with a name and address and writes down what they bring or take. Leaking cans go in a plastic tub packed with clay kitty litter.
Oil-based paint can go to Perry this season
The Mark Twain Regional Council of Governments runs a free center at 42494 Delaware Lane in Perry for households in Macon, Marion, Monroe, Pike, Ralls, Randolph and Shelby counties. It takes oil-based paint and thinner but not latex. It's open April to October, weather permitting, and the council calls all its 2026 dates tentative. Its list still shows one more Saturday, November 7, 9 a.m.-noon, before the winter closure from November 8 to April 2. Check the page or call 573-565-2203 before you drive.
Don't take paint to the transfer station on Martin Lane
The city's transfer station at 101 Martin Lane lists liquids, regulated hazardous waste and waste oil as items it won't take. It is for bulky trash and building waste, by the ton.
Different from Columbia
Columbia's household hazardous waste days (first and third Saturdays, April to October) are for City of Columbia residents, so they aren't an option for Moberly. Columbia also runs a free latex reuse shed; Moberly's version is its own swap shelf, once it reopens.
