Pick another day. Public hours are Monday and Wednesday–Friday 7 am–6 pm and Saturday 7 am–3 pm. Staff working Tuesday doesn’t mean it’s open to you. Check holidays and bring your solid waste card.
Check which county serves the property, not just your mailing address. Beltrami uses ID cards and county funding. For paint from elsewhere or someone else’s place, ask staff first. Don’t leave paint at an unstaffed rural recycling site.
Bring products in original containers, separate and unfrozen, and ask staff about unknown items first. Business hazardous waste goes to a private company; a resident’s card doesn’t cover it. Business house paint may have a PaintCare option after screening.
Bring household paint to the full-service Bemidji Transfer Station with your Solid Waste ID Card. It’s closed to the public on Tuesdays. Rural self-service recycling sites do not take hazardous waste.
Bemidji’s full-service transfer station has a hazardous waste area for latex and oil paint. Older listings miss two things: it’s closed to the public Tuesdays, and you need a Solid Waste ID Card.
Have your Solid Waste ID Card ready. It’s self-service, so pack cans where you can lift them out safely when told.
Beltrami’s rural sites take only household trash and sorted recycling, unlike its two full-service stations. Don’t leave paint by an unstaffed rural bin.
Hours don’t change by season: Monday and Wednesday–Friday 7 a.m.–6 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m.–3 p.m., closed to the public Tuesday. The reuse area opens Thursdays 1–4 p.m. Keep products dry and unfrozen until you go.
Blackduck is the county’s other full-service hazardous waste site; check its hours. For 100 gallons or more of paint PaintCare takes, ask for a free pickup: View program details ↗ .

Keep labels on, and store containers away from heat and frost until you go. Never pour products together to cut down on cans.
Full preparation checklist →No. The station is closed to the public on Tuesdays.
No. The station sends business hazardous waste to a private hazardous-waste company.
Ask about paint from another county or property, and about large amounts. Rechecked October 6, 2026: station hours, reuse hours and storage advice; Beltrami’s pages moved and sources were updated.
