From PaintCare’s drop-off map ↗, updated October 6, 2026. Hours and limits are PaintCare’s. Distances are straight-line, not driving.
Inside city limits, dry them and put them in the trash. To keep them out of the landfill, take them to a county recycling center or a PaintCare store. PaintCare won't take cans without lids.
The varnish can go to a PaintCare store in its labeled can. The mineral spirits can't; PaintCare takes no solvents. Store them safely until the county posts a date, or hire a company from the state list.
County events turn away commercial vehicles, rentals included. Bring your hazardous waste in your own registered car.
Go to the county drop-off at 2662 Riva Road on Saturday, October 10, 8 a.m.–2 p.m., the last 2026 date, with a county license and registration. Latex: county recycling centers all year (Mon–Sat 8–4), or dry it for city trash. Oil-based house paint: a PaintCare store.
Annapolis has no hazardous waste collection. Residents use Anne Arundel County's Saturday events on Riva Road; the last in 2026 is October 10. Latex can go to a county recycling center any time, or a PaintCare store.
The city lets you air-dry latex (cat litter helps) and put it in regular trash. The county bans latex at the curb in its area and sends it to recycling centers. Inside city limits, the city's rule applies.
As of October 6, only October 10, 8 a.m.–2 p.m., is left of the county's six 2026 Saturdays, and no later date is posted. Bring a county driver's license and vehicle registration. Rentals and other commercial vehicles are turned away.
PaintCare won't take boat or antifouling paint, two-part coatings or solvents. The county list names oil-based paint, stain and paint solvents but not boat paint, so call 410-222-7951 and describe what you have. Boatyards and marine businesses can't use county events.
County recycling centers and the landfill refuse oil-based paint. Between events, take it in labeled containers up to 5 gallons to a PaintCare store, like McCormick Paints on Old Solomons Island Road or Sherwin-Williams on West Street or Lincoln Drive.
PaintCare also lists Cape Ace Hardware on Cape St. Claire Road and two Annapolis Sherwin-Williams stores, 5 gallons per visit. County centers in Glen Burnie and Deale take latex Monday–Saturday 8–4. With 100+ gallons you may qualify for free PaintCare pickup. Between events, the county links to other disposal options and a state list of hazardous waste companies.

Keep latex, oil-based paint, solvents and boat paint apart. Close lids and box the cans; staff unload while you stay in the car. Bring your county license and registration.
Full preparation checklist →No. The city has no collection of its own. An agreement lets residents use the county's events.
Yes, once it's fully dry, the city says. Leave the lid off and add cat litter if needed. No liquid paint in the cart.
Only for latex, at the Central Recycling Center, 389 Burns Crossing Road. The landfill and county recycling centers refuse oil-based paint.
No later 2026 county date was posted when we checked. Take oil-based house paint to a PaintCare store, and watch for 2027 dates.
No, PaintCare doesn't take boat paint. Ask the county hazardous waste line about household amounts; boatyards need a private hazardous waste company.
We checked Annapolis and Anne Arundel County pages, MDE's county table and PaintCare's October 6 map data. A tip pointed to Millersville: the landfill and Central Recycling Center (389 Burns Crossing Road, Severn) take latex only, and events are at the Heritage Office Complex. Unknown: whether centers want latex liquid or dry, any latex limit, whether events take household boat paint, and 2027 dates.
Checked October 6, 2026 against these sources, not by phone. How we research.
