Shreveport Green Household Hazardous Waste Collection (appointment-only collection days at the Department of Streets & Drainage)

3825 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, LA 71103

Accepts
Latex and oil-based paints and stains, paint thinner and paint solvents, aerosols, gasoline and other flammable solvents, cleaning products (acids, bases, bleach, furniture polish), pesticides, herbicides and insecticides, car fluids and oil filters, car and marine batteries, household batteries, mercury items, intact thermostats, and fluorescent and CFL bulbs. Electronics are taken too; LCD and LED TVs and monitors cost $10 each.
Who can use it
Households only, no businesses. Shreveport Green says the days serve residents of Shreveport, Bossier City, and Caddo and Bossier Parishes. If someone else drops off your items, they must give your name at the entrance.
Hours
Collection days only, by appointment. Shreveport Green says it holds 8 appointment-only collection days a year. Its sign-up page lists the next date as November 7, 2026, with 10-minute appointment slots from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. You pick a slot when you book. If you’re running late for your slot, you can arrive no later than 10:40 a.m. Missed appointments can be rebooked for the next date.
Load limits
A reservation is required. Shreveport Green won’t take materials in leaking or improper containers, vehicles pulling trailers, or items from businesses. It also refuses tires, furniture, gas cylinders, household fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, ammunition, prescription drugs, radioactive materials, Styrofoam and CRT TVs. It doesn’t publish a gallon limit.
Fees
No charge for paint or other household hazardous waste is listed. The only fee posted is for TVs and monitors: $10 each (the sign-up page says all TVs and monitors now carry the fee).

Don’t take waste to Shreveport Green’s office. It says its facilities can’t take hazardous materials and that dumping waste on its property is prohibited and can bring fines or charges. The collection address comes from the sign-up page, not the main Shreveport Green page. Shreveport Green says containers of dried paint can go in regular garbage, but the City of Shreveport’s garbage rules say not to put paint in the cart. PaintCare runs no program in Louisiana.

THE LOCAL ANSWER

Book a free appointment with Shreveport Green (318-219-1888) and bring your paint to its household hazardous waste collection at 3825 Mansfield Road. Its sign-up page shows the next date as set for November 7, 2026; if that date is past or full, book the next one it lists. Don’t put paint in your city garbage cart or take it to a Caddo Parish compactor site; both say no paint.

Shreveport, Louisiana, in Caddo Parish, has no year-round paint drop-off. Paint goes to Shreveport Green’s appointment-only household hazardous waste collection days, which the City of Shreveport co-sponsors. They’re held at the city’s Department of Streets & Drainage, 3825 Mansfield Road, 8 times a year. Latex and oil-based paint, stain and thinner are all taken. The days serve Shreveport, Bossier City, and Caddo and Bossier Parishes.

No appointment, no drop-off

Shreveport Green says a reservation is required. Book through the link on its Household Hazardous Waste page or call 318-219-1888. If you give an email address, you get a reminder the Friday before. Running late? You can still arrive until 10:40 a.m.

Don’t leave paint at Shreveport Green’s office

Shreveport Green says its own facilities can’t take hazardous materials, and that dumping or leaving waste on its property is prohibited and treated as illegal dumping. The collection itself is at the Department of Streets & Drainage, 3825 Mansfield Road.

Dried paint: the two sources disagree

Shreveport Green says containers of dried paint can go in regular garbage. The city’s garbage Dos & Don’ts says not to put hazardous waste such as oil or paint in the cart. Call Solid Waste at 318-673-6300 before you put dried cans out, or bring them to a collection day.

Caddo Parish compactor sites say no paint

Caddo Parish’s 18 compactor sites are free for parish residents’ household trash, but the 2026 parish sheet lists paint, batteries and hazardous chemicals as prohibited. Bring paint to a Shreveport Green day instead.

Leaking cans and trailers get turned away

Shreveport Green won’t take materials in leaking or improper containers, and it won’t serve vehicles pulling trailers. If a can is leaking, call 318-219-1888 before your appointment and ask how to bring it.

Free pickup programs and other options

PaintCare runs no program in Louisiana, so stores don’t take paint back. The Woolworth Road Landfill, 10580 Woolworth Rd. in Keithville (318-925-3500), doesn’t accept hazardous waste or waste with free liquids, so liquid paint can’t go there. The city’s bulky item pickup (318-673-6300) takes furniture, appliances and up to 4 tires per request, but doesn’t list paint, and it won’t pick up after contractors. Louisiana DEQ’s recycling list names Shreveport Green under Shreveport. Unlike Ruston, which holds a city collection every month, Shreveport’s collection days need an appointment and come 8 times a year.

Book your slot first and note the date and time. Vehicles pulling trailers are turned away. Leaking or improper containers aren’t accepted, so call 318-219-1888 about any leaking can before you go. If you’re late, you can still arrive until 10:40 a.m. If a friend is dropping off for you, they must give your name at the entrance. Leave out tires, furniture, gas cylinders, ammunition and CRT TVs, which Shreveport Green won’t take, and bring $10 for each TV or monitor.

Sources and how we checked11

Checked October 17, 2026: Shreveport Green’s Household Hazardous Waste page and its SignUpGenius booking page (which gives the 3825 Mansfield Rd. address and the November 7, 2026 date), the City of Shreveport’s Recycling, Solid Waste, Garbage and Trash Collections, Bulky Item Pickup and Landfills pages and its Dos & Don’ts PDF, Caddo Parish’s April 2026 compactor sheet, Louisiana DEQ’s recycling list, PaintCare’s state list and PaintCare’s locator data (no Shreveport-area listing). Older city pages describe a single September event at the State Fairgrounds; Shreveport Green’s current page describes 8 appointment days a year, and we used that. The November 7 sign-up sheet showed 10-minute slots from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. We found no published Shreveport Green office address, so none is given. Unresolved: whether every collection day keeps the 8:30–10:30 a.m. slots; whether a gallon limit applies; whether dried paint may go in the city cart (Shreveport Green and the city disagree); whether the Shreveport-Bossier Habitat ReStore takes paint (no published policy found). We made no phone calls.

Checked October 17, 2026 against these sources, not by phone. How we research.
