From PaintCare’s drop-off map ↗, updated October 6, 2026. Hours and limits are PaintCare’s. Distances are straight-line, not driving.
Kane County's free home pickup doesn't cover you; it's only for Batavia, Geneva, South Elgin and some northern townships. Use Naperville for chemicals and a PaintCare store for paint.
Same year-round options. Will County events take every Aurora resident, whatever the county, so the October 17 Wilmington event works for a mixed latex and chemical load.
Two trips to a 5-gallon PaintCare store, or one trip to Whitmore Ace in Plainfield (PaintCare lists 20 gallons) after calling ahead.
Naperville refuses business waste. PaintCare stores and GreenSheen take Illinois businesses' latex and oil-based paint. At 100 gallons or more, PaintCare will schedule a free pickup.
House paint (latex or oil-based): JC Licht, 3450 Montgomery Road, or Sherwin-Williams, 473 Route 59, 5 gallons per visit, free. Spray paint, solvents and other chemicals: Naperville's site at 156 Fort Hill Drive, about 8 miles east, Saturday and Sunday 9–2, open to any Illinois resident. Aurora's 311 line: 630-256-4636.
Aurora sits in Kane, DuPage, Will and Kendall counties, and your county decides which county programs you can use. The main year-round options work for everyone: Naperville's site takes any Illinois resident's chemicals, and PaintCare stores take latex and oil-based paint from anyone.
Naperville's site and PaintCare stores don't check your county; county programs do. Kane County's free yearly Clean Harbors home pickup covers Batavia, Geneva, South Elgin and some northern townships, not Aurora. Will County's events take anyone in a town partly in Will County, and it lists Aurora. We found no Kendall County program.
Aurora sends residents to the Naperville site, which Naperville runs with Aurora and Will, DuPage and Kane counties. The city calls latex 'totally unacceptable' but doesn't say where it goes. The answer is a PaintCare store; Kane County names JC Licht on Montgomery Road and Sherwin-Williams on Route 59. The city also refuses car batteries and propane, but Naperville's current page takes propane tanks up to 20 lb and several battery types. Go by Naperville's page.
Will County's last listed 2026 drop-off is Saturday, October 17, 2026, in Wilmington, 8 a.m.–2 p.m., by appointment. It takes latex and oil-based paint up to 15 gallons per vehicle, plus spray cans, thinner and pool chemicals. It's the only nearby 2026 option for a mixed load. The New Lenox Recyclepalooza on September 12 has passed.
PaintCare lists Whitmore Ace in Plainfield at 20 gallons per visit and GreenSheen in Crest Hill at 200 on weekdays, both within about 17 miles. They're handy when 5-gallon trips to Route 59 don't make sense.
Kane County lists more PaintCare stores in North Aurora (1891 Orchard Gateway Blvd.) and Oswego; PaintCare's list below is current. PaintCare picks up 100 gallons or more free. Kane County sends spray paint to its recycling center or a hazardous waste site, and suggests asking Habitat for Humanity ReStore about unopened cans.

Check your county before booking a county service; Kane's home pickup checks tax records. For Naperville, pack chemicals upright in boxes and stay in the car. For a PaintCare store, bring liquid paint in labeled cans of 5 gallons or less, and call about bin space.
Full preparation checklist →Naperville's site and PaintCare stores take anyone in Illinois. Will County events take all Aurora residents. Kane County's home pickup doesn't cover Aurora. We found no Kendall County program.
A PaintCare store, such as JC Licht at 3450 Montgomery Road or Sherwin-Williams at 473 Route 59, or a Will County one-day event (last listed for 2026: October 17). Naperville won't take latex.
No. Naperville's site is free, and PaintCare stores charge nothing; a fee on new paint pays for PaintCare.
The city's 311 line, 630-256-4636 or 311@aurora.il.us, handles hazardous waste questions. For the site itself, call Naperville Public Works at 630-420-6095.
Checked October 6, 2026. Kane County's Aurora drop-off list is as of February 2026; PaintCare lists two Aurora stores. Still open: we found no Kendall County program. We didn't check the Kane County recycling center's spray paint rules or ReStore's paint policy.
