25315 Jefferson Avenue, Murrieta, CA 92562
Not taken here: spray cans, cleaners, pesticides, pool chlorine, propane, e-waste, sharps and other medical waste. Take those to Lake Elsinore. No free-product reuse shelf at this site. Temecula's 2018 city sheet says latex paint only; the county's current page lists oil-based paint too. PaintCare lists the phone as 800-304-2226, which the county's 2026 flyer also prints as a county number.
512 North Langstaff Street, Lake Elsinore, CA 92530
Not taken: ammunition, explosives, asbestos, tires, appliances, trash, large gas cylinders, e-bike and EV batteries, radioactive and remediation waste. The Drop & Shop shelf gives away usable paint and products while the site is open. The county page says "first Saturday," but the flyer's July and September dates were second Saturdays, so go by the flyer's dates.
28410 Vincent Moraga Drive, Temecula, CA 92590
No spray cans, no unlabeled, leaking or empty containers. Only PaintCare lists this paint drop-off. Habitat's own ReStore page says the Design Center takes no donations and lists paint and chemicals among donations it won't take, so call 951-676-1221 before you bring paint.
8 paint stores and 0 hazardous waste sites, closest first. Paint stores take house paint, stain and varnish, usually up to a set amount per visit. Hazardous waste sites also take chemicals like thinner, but some only serve local residents. Call before you go.

From PaintCare’s drop-off map ↗, updated October 6, 2026. Hours and limits are PaintCare’s. Distances are straight-line, not driving.
Take them to the Murrieta site on Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., or drop them at a Temecula PaintCare store such as Vista Paint on Madison Avenue. Call the store first to check it has room.
Murrieta won't take these. Hold them for the Lake Elsinore site on Nov. 7 or Dec. 5, 2026, and keep the load under 15 gallons or 125 pounds.
You're in San Diego County, so Riverside County sites won't take your waste. A PaintCare store will take house paint; for chemicals, use San Diego County's options.
Bring house paint to a PaintCare store that takes business paint, such as Vista Paint on Madison Avenue or Sherwin-Williams on Enterprise Circle North (20 gallons a visit each). For other waste, apply to the county's very small business program.
Take paint to the county's Murrieta ABOP site, 25315 Jefferson Ave., any non-holiday Saturday 9 a.m.–2 p.m.; it's free for Riverside County residents, up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds a trip. Spray cans, thinner and other chemicals aren't taken there; bring them to the Lake Elsinore site at 512 N. Langstaff St. on its next dates, Nov. 7 or Dec. 5, 2026. For house paint only, Temecula stores such as Vista Paint on Madison Avenue take up to 20 gallons a visit.
Temecula, in southwest Riverside County, has no county hazardous waste site inside city limits. The closest county paint drop-off is the Murrieta ABOP site at 25315 Jefferson Avenue, open Saturdays, which the county lists for the Murrieta–Temecula area. Spray cans, thinner and other chemicals go to Lake Elsinore's monthly site. Several Temecula stores take house paint through PaintCare.
The Jefferson Avenue site is a county road yard that only takes antifreeze, batteries, motor oil and filters, and paint. It turns away spray cans, cleaners, pesticides, pool chlorine, propane, e-waste and sharps. Temecula's own 2018 sheet says latex paint only there, but the county's current page lists oil-based paint too.
For the other chemicals, the county's nearest permanent site is at 512 N. Langstaff St. in Lake Elsinore. It opens one Saturday a month, not in January. The 2026 flyer lists Nov. 7 and Dec. 5 as the dates left this year, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Its Drop & Shop shelf gives away usable paint and products for free. If you can't wait, the county's Agua Mansa site, 1780 Agua Mansa Road in Jurupa Valley, takes the same items on non-holiday Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Every Riverside County site refuses out-of-county waste. If you live just south of Temecula in San Diego County, these sites won't take your load. The county may photograph loads that look like they came from a business.
The 2026 flyer listed temporary collections at Murrieta City Hall, 24601 Jefferson Ave., on Jan. 10 and Aug. 8. Both are over. No other 2026 temporary dates are listed for the Temecula valley.
CR&R collects Temecula's trash. The city says hazardous waste must never go in any residential cart, and it lists paint among items to keep out of the recycling cart.
PaintCare lists four Temecula drop-offs for house paint, 20 gallons each: Vista Paint at 27250 Madison Ave., Sherwin-Williams at 41662 Enterprise Cir. N. and 27355 Jefferson Ave., and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore Design Center on Vincent Moraga Drive (Habitat's own page says it takes no donations there, so call first). Dunn-Edwards and Sherwin-Williams on Jefferson Avenue in Murrieta and Wildomar Ace Hardware are also listed. With 100 gallons or more, ask PaintCare about a free pickup.

Keep paint in its original, labeled can with the lid on tight. Don't mix products. No container over 5 gallons or 50 pounds. Pack it in a box in the trunk or truck bed, away from passengers.
Full preparation checklist →Not a county one. The county lists the Murrieta ABOP site on Jefferson Avenue for the Murrieta–Temecula area. For house paint only, PaintCare lists several stores in Temecula.
No. The county lists aerosol cans as not accepted there. Take them to the Lake Elsinore site on one of its open Saturdays.
No. County sites are free for Riverside County residents, and PaintCare stores take house paint free.
No. County sites turn away business waste. PaintCare stores take house paint from businesses. For other waste, the county's very small business program needs an EPA ID number, an inventory, a price quote and an appointment.
Yes, sometimes. The Lake Elsinore site's Drop & Shop shelf gives away usable paint and products while it's open. Murrieta doesn't have one.
October 16, 2026: read Riverside County Waste Resources' household hazardous waste page, the Murrieta ABOP and Lake Elsinore facility pages, the Drop & Shop and very small business pages, and the 2026 schedule flyer (version 6, Feb. 25, 2026, PDF); the City of Temecula's trash and recycling page, its HHW FAQ and its March 2018 hazardous waste sheet (PDF); and PaintCare's locator data for Temecula, Murrieta, Wildomar and Lake Elsinore. Conflicts: Temecula's 2018 sheet says Murrieta takes latex paint only; the county's current page says latex and oil-based. The county page phone is 951-486-3200; PaintCare lists 800-304-2226. Lake Elsinore is described as "first Saturday" but the flyer's July 11 and Sept. 12 dates were not. Lake Elsinore's Oct. 3 date and both Murrieta City Hall events (Jan. 10, Aug. 8) are past. The Habitat ReStore paint drop-off is documented only by PaintCare; peer review (Oct. 16) found Habitat's own ReStore page says the Design Center takes no donations and won't take paint or chemicals as donations, so the guide now says to call first and no longer sends contractors there. The flyer's 15-gallon limit is printed on the schedule; the Murrieta page itself gives only the 5-gallon container limit. Store hours weren't checked.
