From PaintCare’s drop-off map ↗, updated October 6, 2026. Hours and limits are PaintCare’s. Distances are straight-line, not driving.
The county site suits a mixed household load. Bring proof you live in Alameda County and stay within the trip limit. The store's five-gallon limit covers paint only, not a box with thinner or spray paint.
Oakland's business express drop-off is Tuesday, 9 a.m.–noon, with a bill of lading and a $25 minimum charge. Latex must be in containers of 5 gallons or less, with no limit on amount. The owner or an employee must bring it, so hired haulers can't use it.
Use the county small business appointment program, or a PaintCare store that has cleared your business. The county looks at your monthly and stored hazardous waste, not just today's load. Get your list approved first.
The site has a Swap Shed for reusable products Saturdays, 3–4 p.m., and a recycled-paint sale Tuesday mornings. Stock and colors vary. You don't have to buy anything to drop off leftovers.
Alameda County residents can bring household paint and chemicals to 2100 East 7th Street during household hours, no appointment. For up to 5 gallons of house paint, the PPG store on Piedmont Avenue is also free.
Oakland's county site takes mixed household loads, and a Piedmont Avenue store takes small paint-only loads. The county site runs other services on other days, so the day matters.
Tuesday business express service has paperwork and fees. Household service, Wednesday–Saturday, is free for county residents. Same address, separate programs.
In 2026 the site closes Thanksgiving week and Christmas week. If you can't wait, ask a PaintCare store about room or check another county site's calendar; hours differ.
A 100-gallon paint stash may qualify for PaintCare pickup. Alameda County landlords have their own free program by sign-up and appointment. Paint from a rental turnover isn't automatically household waste.

Keep labels readable and cans upright. Don't combine partly full cans. Say honestly where the waste came from and leave it reachable. Household containers over 5 gallons or 50 pounds are over the limit.
Full preparation checklist →Yes. It serves all Alameda County residents. Bring proof of address.
No. It's a business service with a minimum charge and paperwork. A PaintCare store may suit qualifying business paint better.
Only an owner with up to four units on one lot who lives in one of them. Other landlords should sign up for the landlord appointment service.
Household rules, the store listing, closures and business services were checked against StopWaste. PPG's Sunday hours aren't listed. Recycled-paint prices are left out.
