From PaintCare’s drop-off map ↗, updated October 6, 2026. Hours and limits are PaintCare’s. Distances are straight-line, not driving.
Dunn-Edwards Fresno takes PaintCare paint and is open Monday–Wednesday, when the ECC is closed. Call about space. It won't take every product a paint shop sells.
The ECC takes hobby and artist paint, stripper, thinner and roofing tar. Don't bundle these into a PaintCare store load. Know what each product is, and ask about anything unknown or damaged.
The ECC checks what it collects and gives good products free to county residents, so your leftovers get used without you finding a taker. The ECC decides what qualifies; colors and condition vary.
That's over the ECC's 15-gallon limit. Clovis takes up to 20 gallons but says residents only, so call 559-324-2604 first. Or split it into two ECC trips, or use a PaintCare store whose limit fits.
Fresno households can take paint and chemicals to the county ECC Thursday–Saturday, up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds. Clovis has a paint drop-off on North Sunnyside (20 gallons, residents only). Dunn-Edwards on North Blackstone takes paint only, Monday–Saturday.
The county's Environmental Compliance Center (ECC) handles paint and other hard-to-toss chemicals, and its reuse center gives usable products to county residents.
The ECC takes more than the Clovis center on North Sunnyside Avenue, which takes paint, oil, antifreeze, batteries and bulbs but no spray paint, aerosols, or household, yard or pool chemicals.
The county's small business service is for businesses making under 220 pounds of hazardous waste a month, by appointment Monday–Friday, up to 27 gallons or 220 pounds per trip. Call 877-235-3005 for a price first.
The ECC caps households at 15 gallons or 125 pounds per vehicle. Clovis takes up to 20 gallons of paint, Tuesday–Saturday mornings, but says residents only. Confirm a Fresno address counts first.
The ECC reuse area gives away reusable products when it has them. PaintCare stores take paint only, and PaintCare may pick up large amounts if you qualify. Check its map before picking a store.

Keep paint in sealed, labeled cans, with stain and solvents kept separate. Call the ECC about damaged or unusual containers.
Full preparation checklist →No, not during the ECC's Thursday–Saturday household hours.
No. Qualifying businesses use a separate, paid, booked program.
No. Clovis sends spray paint and other aerosols to the county ECC at 559-600-4259.
Rechecked October 6: ECC details are correct, and Clovis was added. Clovis says "residents only" without defining it, so Fresno residents should ask. PaintCare's map shows the ECC Saturday only; we follow the county's Thursday–Saturday. Store limits come from PaintCare's map. The city's drying tips don't apply to oil paint or solvents.
