From PaintCare’s drop-off map ↗, updated October 6, 2026. Hours and limits are PaintCare’s. Distances are straight-line, not driving.
Seattle's North garbage station is at 1350 N. 34th Street. The North hazardous waste site is at 12550 Stone Avenue North. Use the Stone Avenue address for household oil paint and solvents. Garbage stations don't take hazardous waste.
King County offers free home pickup if you're 65 or older, or have a disability, and can't reach a site. Call 206-296-4692 with a list. Latex isn't taken, and there may be a wait. It's not next-day pickup for everyone.
North and South Seattle are both closed Wednesday. Factoria, at 13800 SE 32nd Street in Bellevue, is listed Tuesday–Friday, 8–4. Check that it takes your items and is open before you make the longer drive.
For leftover house paint with labels, take it to a PaintCare store. For household oil paint along with thinner or stripper, use the North or South Seattle hazardous waste site on a day it's open. The city's garbage transfer stations are at different addresses from the hazardous waste sites.
In Seattle, Rodda-Miller Paint on Aurora Avenue takes latex and oil-based house paint for recycling. For household oil paint and solvents, there are also the North and South Seattle hazardous waste sites.
The Aurora store is open weekdays and Saturday and lists itself as a paint drop-off. Call about room for your cans. For oil paint plus thinner, compare the North and South Seattle days. Those sites don't take latex.
Second Use says it no longer takes used paint. A store that sells recycled paint doesn't always take leftover cans.
For latex or oil house paint, the Aurora Avenue store takes paint only. For oil paint with solvents, use North Seattle on Stone Avenue (Sunday–Tuesday) or South Seattle on 2nd Avenue South (Thursday–Saturday). Go by those days, not nearby garbage station hours. A store's room for paint is separate from the county's household limit.
If you're 65+ or have a disability and can't get to a site, King County will pick up hazardous waste at home for free (not latex). Call 206-296-4692. For a large amount of paint, also look into PaintCare pickup.

Keep cans closed and apart. If a label is hard to read, take a photo and call the helpline before you move anything unknown.
Full preparation checklist →No. King County allows dried-out latex in the trash as a last resort. Recycling usable liquid paint means you don't have to dry it out.
Yes. King County takes both as household hazardous waste. Both count toward the limit.
No. King County sends latex, water-based and acrylic paint to PaintCare, not its hazardous waste sites. Take a paint-only load of latex and oil to a PaintCare store, or split the paint from the solvents.
No. That's a county hazardous waste rule. Ask the store how much it can take. Keep each can at five gallons or smaller.
Call stores to ask if they have room. Fewer people qualify for home pickup than for PaintCare drop-off. We did not check space at each store.
