Paint recycling
in Mississippi.
Paint disposal in Jackson. Mississippi has no free paint recycling program, so you use a city or county household hazardous waste site or event.
Check your local rules.
Mississippi has no PaintCare program, so paint stores won’t take it back. MDEQ says to use paint up, give leftovers to a theater group, school or Habitat for Humanity, and take the rest to a hazardous waste site or event if your area has one. Only if those options aren’t available does MDEQ say to let latex dry out, or soak up latex or oil-based paint with kitty litter or sawdust, and put it in the garbage. Jackson runs a drop-off at its Environmental Service Center, and Harrison County runs the Rockco-McFarland site in Gulfport, which takes latex and oil-based paint. Check your own city’s trash rules: Jackson doesn’t allow paint in garbage carts.
No free state program.
Mississippi doesn’t have a statewide paint program, so it depends on your city or county. Each city guide shows where latex and oil-based paint can go.
