The city won't pick up paint
City of Rome garbage service lists paint, oil and any free liquid among the things it doesn't collect, with no exception for dried paint. Walker Mountain Landfill also refuses liquid waste, hazardous waste and anything from outside Floyd County.
Remote sites are for bagged household garbage
Floyd County's six remote sites, like Berryhill, Hatfield and Midway, take household garbage and recycling only. Their posted policy says check with the caretaker before dumping, so don't leave paint cans there.
Weekday visits to Lavender Drive are for recycling
The Recycling Center is open Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and its 24-hour drop-off takes appliances and scrap metal. Paint is only taken on event days.
