From PaintCare’s drop-off map ↗, updated October 6, 2026. Hours and limits are PaintCare’s. Distances are straight-line, not driving.
Neither county site opens Monday. Dunn-Edwards Sacramento takes PaintCare paint and opens Monday at 6:30 a.m. Check it can take your amount, and leave out thinner, spray cans and unlabeled cans.
SRTS has a reuse area for mostly full products with original labels. Staff decide what's reusable, and residents take what's there free. Mention usable paint when you arrive; colors aren't guaranteed.
SRTS opens Wednesday; NARS doesn't. Keep the whole load within the limit. Businesses call 916-379-0500 for paid service instead of using household rules.
PaintCare's map lists Visions Paint Recycling at 4105 S Market Court, Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4 p.m., up to 200 gallons per visit; call ahead above that. That's far over the county's 15 gallons, but it takes PaintCare paint only, not thinner or spray cans.
SRTS on Fruitridge Road and NARS on Roseville Road take household paint and other hazardous waste. Kiefer in Sloughhouse takes paint and little else. Dunn-Edwards on Folsom Boulevard takes paint only and opens Mondays.
Sacramento has two full hazardous waste sites, Fruitridge Road in the city and North Highlands to the north. The county's Kiefer site in Sloughhouse takes paint but few other chemicals.
Fruitridge takes hazardous waste Tuesday–Saturday. NARS is closed Wednesday but opens at 8:30 a.m. on its four days.
The county allows one visit a month, and no container over five gallons. Call before planning several trips.
Kiefer takes oil-based and latex paint and small empty spray paint cans, plus only antifreeze, batteries, oil and universal waste. Take thinner, stripper and cleaners to SRTS or NARS. Kiefer has no business appointments.
NARS and Kiefer take small empty spray paint cans with your paint. A can that still has paint or pressure isn't empty, so tell staff.
A PaintCare store may suit a small paint-only load; call about room first. Sitting on 100 gallons or more by can size? PaintCare may collect it free.

List your paint and thinner separately. Seal containers, and ask about damaged cans before bringing them.
Full preparation checklist →No. Hazardous waste has its own hours.
Book business service; NARS takes business appointments at 916-876-9458. Don't bring contractor loads to the household line.
Yes. Kiefer, at 12701 Kiefer Boulevard in Sloughhouse, takes latex and oil paint Tuesday–Saturday, 8:30–4. It doesn't take most other chemicals.
Rechecked October 6 on county 311 and the paint page; SRTS, NARS and Kiefer are as shown. Elk Grove's Special Waste Collection Center now shows Saturday–Wednesday 9–4, but who can use it and whether it takes paint are unconfirmed, so it's not listed. Visions and Dunn-Edwards' 20-gallon limit come from PaintCare's map, not current space. Reuse details are from October 4, since the city page wouldn't load.
Checked October 6, 2026 against these sources, not by phone. How we research.
